The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Volumetric Accounting / Commercial Operations Analyst to support the accuracy, integrity, and reporting of operational and volumetric data. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, enjoys solving complex problems, and can effectively balance analytical, operational, and business priorities. This role reports to the Manager, Rates & Volumetric Accounting.

Location: Calgary, Alberta

What you’ll do

• Monitor, validate, and reconcile operational and volumetric data, including production, receipts, deliveries, transfers, inventory movements, and adjustments.

• Investigate and resolve discrepancies and data-quality issues while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of transactional records and supporting documentation.

• Prepare recurring and ad hoc operational, volumetric, and management reports.

• Analyze trends, variances, and performance indicators, providing insights and explanations to support operational and business decision-making.

• Support month-end activities, including reconciliations, accruals, adjustments, and transaction reviews.

• Maintain accurate records and audit-ready documentation to support reporting, compliance, and internal control requirements.

• Partner with Operations, Accounting, Finance, Commercial, and other stakeholders to resolve issues, support business objectives, and improve processes, controls, and data quality.

• Develop and maintain analytical models and reporting tools and contribute to ongoing process improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.

• 3–6 years of experience in volumetric accounting, commercial operations, settlements, logistics, pipeline operations, or a similar analytical role.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience working with large volumes of transactional and operational data, investigating discrepancies, and performing reconciliations.

• Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, data analysis, and reporting.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with limited supervision.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships across multiple functions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in energy, midstream, pipeline, terminal, commodities, or related industries.
• Direct experience with volumetric accounting, pipeline balancing, inventory management, shipper balances, commodity settlements, invoicing, revenue accruals, and reconciliations.
• Experience interpreting and applying commercial agreements, pipeline tariffs, toll schedules, transportation contracts, or customer-specific billing requirements.
• Experience working with commercial, marketing, scheduling, operations, measurement, accounting, or customer-service teams in a cross-functional environment.
• Experience leveraging process improvement, automation, Power BI, Microsoft 365, AI, and other digital tools to enhance operational efficiency and decision-making.
