ABOUT THE ROLE
The Maintenance Apprentice will support the Maintenance team with the installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of electrical systems, equipment, and controls throughout the manufacturing facility. This role is designed for an electrical apprentice looking to gain practical, hands-on experience while progressing through their apprenticeship.
Location: 203 58 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2H 0N9Wage: $27.80/hour, plus night shift premiumShift: open availability required (flexibility with working overtime, and on weekends, as necessary)
In a typical day you will:
• Assist Electricians and Maintenance team members with electrical troubleshooting, repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance activities.• Support the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, wiring, motors, sensors, control panels, and related components.• Assist with troubleshooting electrical and control system issues to minimize equipment downtime.• Perform basic electrical testing and diagnostics under the direction of a qualified Electrician.• Assist with preventative and predictive maintenance activities on production and facility equipment.• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, manuals, and equipment documentation.• Support electrical installations and modifications in accordance with applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and company procedures.• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S standards.• Assist with documenting maintenance activities, repairs, parts used, and equipment issues.• Work collaboratively with Maintenance, Production, and other departments to support reliable plant operations.• Follow all company food safety, GMP, health and safety, lockout/tagout, and environmental procedures.• Participate in training and development opportunities to continue progressing through the electrical apprenticeship program.• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned. The Team Member is required to comply with all Food Safety, Quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements always.
Job requirements:
• Currently registered in a recognized Apprenticeship Program.• Previous experience in a manufacturing, industrial, commercial, or food-processing environment is an asset.• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, motors, controls, and electrical components.• Ability to read and understand basic electrical drawings and schematics.• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.• Strong communication and organizational skills.• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.• Ability and willingness to work shifts, weekends, and overtime as required.• Commitment to workplace safety and continuous learning.We offer a competitive benefits package for full-time employees, including strong benefit and pension plans, paid vacation and holidays, overtime opportunities, and a growth path to line leader and supervisory roles.
