Description
Want the opportunity to shape something, not simply manage what is already there?
An established and successful Western Australian business is expanding its communications capability, creating an exceptional opportunity for an experienced industry professional to take ownership of its continued development.
With existing clients, projects, resources, infrastructure and an experienced management team already in place, you will have the autonomy to influence how the division develops, grow the dedicated team and build your own career with it.
Experienced Communications, Data & Fibre or Electronic Security Project Managers, along with Supervisors ready to step into Project Management, are encouraged to apply. This could include an experienced technical Supervisor coming from the tools who holds the required cabling registration and has strong communications, data and fibre capability. An Electrical background would also be highly regarded.
For those with Electronic Security experience, there will be the opportunity to utilise this knowledge and contribute to the continued growth of this area.
The Opportunity
- Take ownership of communications, data and fibre project delivery within an established and successful WA business.
- Work approximately 50:50 between site and office initially, becoming less hands-on as the dedicated team grows.
- Help develop the communications team, with access to existing personnel and resources across the wider business.
- Work closely with an experienced Construction Manager who will provide support and guidance while giving you autonomy in the role.
- Build on established client relationships and identify new project opportunities.
- Have genuine input into the future direction of the division, including the opportunity to contribute to the growth of Electronic Security where your experience allows.
- Progress into broader management and leadership responsibility as the division grows.
The Role
You will manage multiple communications, data and fibre projects across commercial and construction environments.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing projects from commencement through to commissioning and handover.
- Coordinating labour, resources, materials and site requirements across multiple projects.
- Remaining technically involved with commissioning and project delivery where required.
- Directing, supporting and developing technical field personnel.
- Attending client and site meetings and building strong stakeholder relationships.
- Identifying project opportunities and contributing to the commercial growth of the division.
- Working across the wider business to utilise existing resources, technical capability and client relationships.
- Representing the division at relevant client meetings and industry functions.
- Developing estimating capability as part of the role, with training and support provided.
- Some short-term regional WA travel may be required, particularly for commissioning.
About You
You will ideally possess:
- Proven experience across communications, data and fibre projects.
- Current Open Cabling Registration with fibre endorsement.
- Strong technical knowledge of communications, data and fibre systems.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience, including responsibility for directing and supporting technical field personnel.
- Strong hands-on technical experience across communications, data and fibre, with the capability to manage or progress into broader project management responsibility.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and coordinate labour and resources.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery and profitability.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to remain technically involved as the dedicated communications team grows.
- Current driver's licence and full Australian working rights.
- Fibre-splicing experience is preferred but not essential.
Electronic Security experience would be highly advantageous and will provide the opportunity to contribute across both areas of the business. An Electrical licence and/or strong electrical knowledge would also be highly regarded.
This could also suit someone who has operated their own electrical or communications business, or considered doing so, and is attracted to having influence and autonomy with established clients, resources and business support already around them.
Your Future
This position has the potential to become considerably more than a Project Manager role. As the division grows, there is scope for broader leadership responsibility across communications and technology, with future opportunities developing around the capability, ambition and contribution of the person appointed.
If you are driven, technically strong and want the opportunity to shape your own career within a growing division and established business, I would like to hear from you. Alternatively, click Apply to submit your application.
