Machine Builder

Job title: Machine Builder 

Reports to: Foreman 

Supervisory responsibilities: N/A 

Summary/objective: Specialty Tooling Systems (STS) is looking to add Machine Builders to their day and night shift teams! The Machine Builder will be responsible for building custom equipment and parts assemblies in a timely manner, maintaining a smooth flow of parts and products from production to crating for delivery to the customer. Service and/or install equipment in the field when necessary. 

Essential functions:  

• Assemble components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering sketches, and vast knowledge of machine construction to construct, rebuild, and repair machines and equipment.   

• Able to use hand tools or power tools.   

• Lay out hole locations and drill and tap holes.   

• Verify conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.  

• Work in a fast-paced environment (multi-task - juggle multiple jobs at a time).  Effective time management is required.  

Required competency, education, and experience:  

• At least 3 years of related work experience. Direct experience/positions held where building specialty machines and/or equipment duties were part of your daily responsibilities. 
• Areas of Knowledge:  
  • Metals industry  
  • Testing Equipment  
  • Adhesive/Bonding  
  • Plastics (assembly, sonic welding, hot plate welding, heat staking, ultrasonic, decorative, etc.)  

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds 

Work environment: Manufacturing Environment 

Physical demands:  

• Regularly lift 30-50 pounds 

• Regularly perform repetitive tasks 

• Regularly possess manual dexterity to put parts or pieces together quickly and accurately 

• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus 

Position type and expected hours of work: Full time. Day and night shift roles available. 

Travel: 5-10%
