Demonstrates clear and concise verbal and written communication and customer service skills. Must have knowledge of sterilization principles.
Must be able to perform several tasks in an organized manner.
Ability to learn and retain basic knowledge of inventory systems, surgical equipment, and supplies.
Illustrates computer skills within the service provided.
Must manage inventory, stock locations, and pick needed supplies for surgical procedures.
Physical /Working conditions:
Must be able to access the entire facility, lift to 40lbs, transport supplies, instruments and equipment as needed.
Demonstrates manual dexterity, hearing acuity, and verbal ability.
Displays capability to stand for long periods of time and can walk, lift, bend, and stoop for most of the workday.
Has sufficient endurance to perform tasks over extended periods of time.
The environment involves potential exposure to blood/body fluids, hazardous materials, and communicable diseases.
Participates in creating a safety culture by optimizing safety.
Psychosocial:
Must be able to deal with a fast paced, stressful environment with the ability to handle frustration and stress in an appropriate manner.
Displays effective organizational skills with the ability to prioritize.
Other:
Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and shift rotations as needed.
Considered critical services during inclement weather and disasters.
Qualifications
Education/formal training/licensure/certification experience:
Completion of high school or its equivalent
One year's experience in a supply or hospital environment with medical or surgical supplies preferred.
Completion of medical terminology course preferred.
