ROLE SUMMARY
The Vaccine mRNA Franchise Global Access Strategy and Pricing Team Lead role directly impacts the ability to achieve business objectives on a global basis by providing strategic guidance on access, pricing, optimal reimbursement, launch sequencing, patient value, and evidence generation; she/he is responsible to develop the value and access strategy and its implementation through payer and market insights, US, Medical, International Commercial Office, Global Marketing and Policy partnerships. The mRNA VASP Lead will also spearhead the pipeline strategies for next gen mRNA platform assets (Flu, Combo) and ensuring there is robust evidence available for the launch of mRNA Vaccines. The Vaccine mRNA Franchise GASP Team Lead is also responsible for managing a team of 2-plus Global Access and Pricing strategy colleagues, focusing on team development/culture and for building a strong partnership across GAV, Global cross-functional teams and key prioritized markets.
This team leader will function with a One Pfizer mindset and will lead a cross functional team of health economics and outcomes research (HEOR) scientists, real world evidence (RWE) scientists, regional H&V, International Commercial Office, Global Marketing and market access strategists. She/he will lead all mRNA-specific business cases and strategic pricing decisions, via the Comirnaty VanTac and, as necessary, GPC. The team leader will also become a strategic partner to ICO, EMCO, Global Commercial Strategy, medical, Value & evidence and prioritized country teams.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead Team: Lead the cross functional mRNA/Comirnaty Access Strategy & Pricing matrix team comprised of market access strategists, HEOR scientists, RWE scientists, regional H&V and GLocal colleagues.
- Strategic Partnership: Become an active member of the mRNA Global Marketing extended leadership team and a strategic partner to Global Marketing, International Commercial Office, US Market Access, Medical, CSI, GPD, Corporate Affairs, prioritized countries and Regulatory; effectively liaise with GAV’s Centers of Excellence.
- Plan & Deliver on Commitments: Orchestrate development of the integrated value and access strategy for all mRNA Assets and implementation of key tactics to maximize access to patients post launch. Enable the execution of outcomes studies and projects Peri and Post launch in alignment with cross-functional colleagues to demonstrate the value proposition for Comirnaty/Flu/Combo to payers and other stakeholders to ensure timely reimbursement, expanded and continued access. Lead the Pricing and Access Strategy (via SteerCo/VanTAC) for all mRNA assets to ensure tender success with value-based prices.
- External Partnerships: Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations with key external experts, healthcare policy makers, HTAs and payers, patient advocacy groups and various academic and community settings to support asset strategy.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree minimum required; Master’s Degree preferred in a healthcare, business or economic field preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in early drug development.
- Strong technical knowledge of health economics and pricing/access
- Minimum 12 years’ experience required in health outcomes, RWD and / or market access & pricing and related fields.
- Experienced in leading a cross functional team with strong track record of high level of engagement and delivering results
- Skilled in functioning within a matrix organization where managing through influence is required
- In depth understanding of pharmacoeconomics, Health-Related Quality of Life and / or pricing and access dynamics required
- Strong methodological skills (study design, data analysis and interpretation) in clinical trials, epidemiology, or health services research preferred
- Experience with HTA organizations such as ACIP, NICE, SMC, PBAC is desirable
- Experience with IDM and EM payers is a must
- Excellent interpersonal skills required: ability to understand and respond to multiple internal and external customers; build strategic partnerships internally and externally
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills required
- Strong project management abilities (contracting, budgeting, vendor management) essential.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects (multitask) involving complex processes, significant budget, competing deadlines and rapidly shifting priorities
- Ability to influence key members of scientific and commercial teams constructively and without conflict
- Leadership in studies that involve evidence generation, specifically related to RWE, NIS studies for access and delivering payer value
- Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.
