Job Description Summary
We are seeking an energetic, results-driven Warranty Engineer to support new unit warranty execution within the Americas Services Organization. In this role, you will manage customer warranty claims for designated sites, coordinate technical and financial reviews, drive execution of remedial work, and support closure of punch list items in alignment with contractual commitments and the Global Warranty Governance Framework. You will work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Quality, Finance, Commercial, and Field Services teams to improve customer satisfaction, reduce warranty cost exposure, and strengthen operational performance on the field.Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Customer Interface & Claim Management
- Serve as primary customer interface concerning warranty claims. maintaining consistent communication regarding claim status, resolution timelines, and expected outcomes
- Manage warranty claim lifecycle for covered equipment; including Gas & Steam Turbine, Generator, MSD, HRSG & Plant BOP
- Liaise between customer, Functions and Business Lines to expeditiously drive claim resolution
Governance and Execution
- Site-specific implementation of Global Warranty Governance Framework in close coordination with Pole Warranty Leader and HDNU Warranty Organization; including standard work adherence, handover readiness, escalation, resource & cost management and associated metrics
- Conduct thorough initial investigations to validate the technical and contractual validity of warranty claims in coordination with Contract Performance Manager (CPM)
- Assess repair-versus-replacement decisions, weighing technical feasibility, cost, schedule impact, and contractual obligations to minimize exposure
- Review and interpret technical documentation including design specifications, installation records, operational data, and maintenance logs to support claim disposition
- Secure alignment with Legal, Contract Management and Global Warranty teams to ensure all actions and communications are consistent with contractual terms and risk management requirements
- Ensure timely, cost-efficient performance of Warranty execution and support of punch list closure for assigned site(s) . Including planning, demand placement and fulfillment for parts, resources and tooling.
- Support customer-facing discussions for planning, execution and resolution of claims
Cost Management
- Establish and monitor warranty cost control mechanisms, including initial estimates, budget tracking, forecasting accuracy, cost recovery and productivity performance for assigned site(s)
- Coordinate financial reviews to ensure cost estimates, budget provisions, and management approvals are aligned prior to work execution
- Monitor and report warranty spend against budget, escalating risks and identifying drivers for variance in a timely manner
Data Reporting and Problem Solving
- Support performance of root cause analysis (RCA) in coordination with Engineering and other Functions to determine failure mode and establish accountability
- Identify recurring defect trends and communicate findings to Engineering and Product teams to drive design or process improvements and reduce future warranty exposure
- Conduct weekly warranty meetings with customers and internal stakeholders to discuss open claims, schedules, delivery status, and resolution progress
- Maintain a comprehensive and up-to-date warranty log capturing all open, closed, and disputed claims, including claim details, status, resolution actions, timelines, and financial data
- Prepare and present periodic warranty status reports, dashboards, and metrics including claim aging, resolution rates, cost trends, and schedule adherence
- Ensure all warranty records, correspondence, and decisions are properly documented in accordance with company standards and contractual requirements
Process Improvement and Standardization
- Identify and support implementation of productivity and process improvement initiatives to improve execution efficiency and customer outcomes
- Collaborate with Global and Pole Warranty teams to identify, share and implement best practices; lessons learned & drive process standardization across regions
- Apply Lean principles to identify waste, improve workflows, and strengthen operational discipline
- Support training of other Warranty Engineers, CPMs and process stakeholders
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) from an accredited university or college
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish. With ability to prepare clear, concise, and professional reports and presentations for management and customers
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the Power Generation Industry, preferably in services, quality, warranty or field operations
- Strong technical knowledge of heavy-duty power generation equipment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, BOP systems, and HRSG
- Demonstrated ability to manage costs, forecasts, schedules and resources while effectively cooperating with, and influencing customers and internal stakeholders
- Customer-focused mindset with the ability to manage difficult conversations and maintain professional relationships under pressure
- Ability to travel to domestic and international destinations to attend customer sites or GE facilities to support warranty investigations and work execution
Desired Characteristics
- Field experience with gas/steam turbines, generators, or other heavy-duty power generation equipment
- Familiarity with field service execution, including labor, tooling, and third-party vendor management.
- Warranty management background & strong commercial acumen. Experience reading and interpreting commercial/technical contracts and warranty provisions
- Ability to perform or coordinate root cause analysis and failure mode investigations
- Servant leadership mindset with a highly collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to drive change
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills with the ability to influence customers and internal stakeholders without direct authority
- Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision with experience working in a global, matrixed organization
