POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Mechanical Engineer serves as a senior technical expert responsible for the design, coordination, and delivery of complex HVAC and mechanical systems. The role provides technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and designers but does not have direct supervisory responsibility.

Prepare drawings for clients showing necessary equipment, accessories, and other applicable technical information. Prepare single line drawings for quoting purposes. Develop design solutions that meet performance requirements. Provide heating and cooling load calculations for HVAC and refrigeration applications. Assist in the development of Bill of Materials. Use PC-based drawing software (AutoCAD) when applicable. Ensures design compliance with all appropriate national, state and local codes as they apply to the products specified and their application. Work in a virtual engineering environment with coordination between all design stakeholders. Complete in a timely manner all company required reports.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design mechanical and HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and equipment layouts.

  • Perform engineering calculations, including heating and cooling loads, equipment sizing, and energy analyses.

  • Prepare engineering studies, technical reports, and schematic designs for new and existing facilities.

  • Research, evaluate, and specify HVAC and mechanical equipment to meet project requirements.

  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, and documentation for technical accuracy and completeness.

  • Serve as the technical lead on assigned projects and provide engineering guidance throughout project execution.

  • Mentor and provide technical support to junior engineers and designers.

  • Develop innovative and practical solutions to address client and project challenges.

  • Collaborate with architects, electrical engineers, refrigeration engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to develop integrated design solutions.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, industry standards, and client requirements.

  • Support sustainability, energy efficiency, and carbon reduction initiatives through sound engineering practices.

  • Conduct site visits, field investigations, and existing condition assessments as required.

  • Incorporate and respond to design review comments and redlines.

  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 7 years of HVAC and mechanical system design experience.

  • Demonstrated experience independently leading complex engineering projects.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical system design, equipment selection, and applicable building codes.

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and/or Autodesk Inventor.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to engineers and designers.

  • Available for travel less than 20%
