SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, is seeking an Associate Designer to join our growing Design team. This early-career role is designed for someone looking to build a strong foundation in product design through hands-on experience across digital products, design systems, user research, accessibility, and cross-functional collaboration.
The Associate Designer will work closely with senior designers, engineers, product managers, and other partners to help deliver thoughtful, user-centered solutions. Our Design team values collaboration, creativity, systems thinking, continuous learning, and high-quality execution. This role offers opportunities for mentorship, skill development, and increasing ownership as experience grows.
What you’d be doing:
- Support the design and delivery of user-centered digital experiences across SageSure products and applications.
- Collaborate with senior designers, product managers, engineers, researchers, and other cross-functional partners throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Create and refine user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and interface designs that improve usability, accessibility, and consistency.
- Contribute to the expansion, maintenance, and application of SageSure’s design system and established design standards.
- Participate in user research, design reviews, critiques, pair design, and other collaborative design activities to strengthen solution quality.
- Develop a broad understanding of SageSure applications and customer experiences while supporting projects of increasing scope and complexity.
- Advocate for accessible and inclusive design practices and apply established standards throughout the design process.
- Collaborate effectively with remote and geographically dispersed teams and participate in periodic in-person meetings, workshops, planning sessions, and team events.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, User Experience, Graphic Design, Interaction Design, a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and professional experience.
- 0–2 years of relevant design experience, including internship, academic, freelance, professional, or other applied design experience.
- Portfolio demonstrating design work such as user interfaces, workflows, prototypes, user experience projects, or design system contributions.
- Proficiency with Figma as a primary design tool.
- Strong attention to detail, including visual consistency, usability, and alignment with established design standards.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
- Demonstrated curiosity, adaptability, and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
- Ability and willingness to travel approximately 10–15% for team meetings, workshops, planning sessions, business activities, and other in-person collaboration as needed.
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Familiarity with established design systems such as Carbon Design System, Material Design, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with design, research, prototyping, or collaboration tools such as Miro, Dovetail, Maze, Zeroheight, Storybook, Framer, or Webflow.
- Exposure to user research, accessibility standards, inclusive design practices, or usability testing.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or common frameworks and how they influence product design and implementation.
