POSITION SUMMARY:
The Fleet Sales Program Specialist is responsible for driving growth of Company fleet sales and the Company-sponsored Fleet Card portfolios through the acquisition of commercial fleet accounts. This role serves as the primary business development lead for fleet card sales, identifying prospective customers, developing relationships with key decision-makers, negotiating commercial agreements, and closing new business opportunities that increase fuel volume, card utilization, and brand loyalty.
Working closely with the fleet card providers, field sales organization, branded customer network, and brand marketing, and loyalty teams, the specialist will develop and execute strategies that accelerate fleet card adoption and expand Marathon's presence within the commercial fleet market.
This position is part of a job family with multiple grade levels. The successful candidate will be placed at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
KEY RESPONSIBILITES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Identify and qualify prospective fleet customers across target industries and markets.
- Develop and manage a pipeline of fleet sales opportunities.
- Conduct prospecting, customer outreach, and sales presentations.
- Negotiate commercial terms and close new fleet card accounts.
- Partner with field sales teams, jobbers, dealers, and the fleet card providers to identify and pursue growth opportunities.
- Drive account onboarding and early utilization to maximize fuel volume and customer retention.
- Track and report on sales performance, pipeline health, new account acquisition, and fuel gallons generated.
- Monitor market trends and competitive activity to identify new business opportunities.
The above responsibilities, notwithstanding the final scope of the role will be determined by the experience level of the candidate selected.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Senior Commercial Program Specialist
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Sales or other related discipline required or other related experience in lieu.
- Five (5) or more years of experience in B2B sales, business development, fleet, fuel, payments, or related commercial sales experience.
- Proven success prospecting and closing customer accounts.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience managing a sales pipeline and achieving growth targets.
Lead Commercial Program Specialist
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Sales or other related discipline required or other related experience in lieu.
- Seven(7) or more years of experience in B2B sales, business development, fleet, fuel, payments, or related commercial sales experience.
- Proven success prospecting and closing customer accounts.
- Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship management skills.
- Experience managing a sales pipeline and achieving growth targets.
Travel: Up to 40% travel is required
