Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Underwriting Rating Analyst in our North America Insurance Operations team.

The Underwriting Rating Analyst will perform rating functions for multiple lines of admitted and non-admitted business and support the continued success of the North America Insurance Operations team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Collect account-specific and policy-related information to prepare and perform rating for new quotes, requotes, issues, endorsements, and other transactions across multiple lines of business.
  • Review underwriting information and instructions for completeness and accuracy, including binders, payment plans, commissions, and related documentation.
  • Handle complex, unique, or unusual accounts while ensuring compliance with rating rules, department guidelines, Sompo systems, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain service standards by responding timely to requests and producing accurate, high-quality work consistent with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Support audits, quality control, User Acceptance Testing, workflow improvements, process standardization, and special projects to improve team performance and operational efficiency.
  • Train and mentor new team members by providing guidance, support, and knowledge sharing to help ensure team success.

What you’ll bring:

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of experience as a technical assistant, underwriting assistant, rating analyst, or in a similar insurance operations role; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience supporting rating, underwriting review, policy processing, or admitted and non-admitted insurance business preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and ImageRight.
  • Familiarity with Guidewire, Policy Decisions, Power BI, MicroStrategy, or other insurance systems is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, time management, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing procedures, and collaborate effectively within a team structure.

Salary Range: $62,000 – $98,000. Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
