The Technology Management Division (TMD) provides Corporate IT, and Cyber
Security & Privacy Governance to Rakuten Group companies and essential business management for technology organizations, thereby enabling innovation and strengthening the technology foundation. Within TMD, the Corporate IT Supervisory Department (CITD) drives Rakuten Group’s global corporate IT services and infrastructure. The Corporate IT Infrastructure Department (CITID) provides the stable and reliable technological foundation that supports Rakuten's global business operations. We deliver simple, secure, and robust infrastructure services with operational and engineering excellence, managing core infrastructure, enterprise collaboration platforms, development support tools and project management.
 

Position:
Why We Hire
The Corporate IT Department is looking for senior infrastructure engineer with a focus on core Microsoft Infrastructure technologies, scripting and automation competencies to improve the output of the team and reduce operational overhead.  The role will be based in the Tokyo Headquarters location but will work with global teams.

Position Details

Your responsibilities will include:

・Manage platform services on public cloud, including driving operational improvements, implementing security/compliance requirements, and cost savings

・Manage diverse server environments covering all areas of server platform management, including Monitoring, High Availability, Backup, Configuration Management, Patch/Vulnerability Management, Capacity and lifecycle management, etc.

・Develop and improve operational and management processes through the application of automation and AI

・Contribute to global projects as a lead engineering resource

・Act as a final-tier escalation point and senior consultant on technical and procedural matters

・Be a role model in quality of service, communication, and attention to detail

・Communicate proactively with global stakeholders across IT, security, and business functions

・Be flexible and adaptable to new challenges/opportunities, and have a desire to learn new technologies

Mandatory Qualifications:
Demonstrable experience and solid competency in the following areas:

・Microsoft Azure IaaS services, PaaS services, networking, and security

・Server operating systems (Windows, Linux)

・DevOps, CI/CD, automation

・Hypervisor and storage platforms

・Fundamental networking concepts (DNS, firewall, load balancing, TCP/IP, etc)

・Good communication and writing skills and customer-first mindset

・Ability to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines

・Ability to work independently and resolve issues with minimal supervision

Desired Qualifications:

・5+ years’ experience as a senior engineer in a global environment

・Multiple IT related certifications

・Agile experience

・English : Business level (TOEIC 800 or higher) or Native 
・Japanese : At least conversational level is preferred
