Department Description
The Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) function forms part of the Second Line of Defence in the Firm's Three Lines of Defence model. FCC is responsible for designing and maintaining a robust financial crime prevention framework that (i) manages our financial crime risk in line with our risk appetite (ii) meets legal and regulatory obligations in all the jurisdictions in which we operate and (iii) harnesses industry practice and standards.
The Global Financial Crime Compliance ("FCC") team comprises approximately 25 professionals located across London, New York, and Chicago, supported by an additional seven team members based in regional offices globally.
As a relatively lean function operating within a dynamic and rapidly growing global financial services business, the team is responsible for the full spectrum of financial crime risk management, including anti-money laundering, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, fraud risk management, and tax evasion.
Given the breadth of the team's remit and the diversity of the Firm's products, services, and geographic footprint, we seek individuals who are intellectually curious, adaptable, and capable of operating across multiple financial crime disciplines. Successful candidates will be comfortable balancing strategic initiatives with practical execution while working collaboratively across business lines and jurisdictions.
As Marex has grown, the Financial Crime Compliance function has also expanded and matured. We are now seeking an additional member of the FCC Americas team to support the continued development and implementation of the Global FCC programme across Latin America, with an initial focus on Brazil other Latin American countries as required.
The Financial Crime Compliance Lead is responsible for the design, implementation, oversight, and continuous enhancement of the Financial Crime Compliance framework across Marex's Latin American operations. The role serves as the senior regional FCC leader and trusted advisor to the Head of Financial Crimes Compliance, Americas, ensuring compliance with applicable anti-money laundering (AML), counter-terrorist financing (CTF), sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption (ABC), fraud, and related financial crime regulatory requirements.
The role will provide independent second-line oversight over financial crime risks while partnering with business leadership to support sustainable growth and regulatory compliance across the LATAM region. The role will report to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance, Americas and maintain close alignment with the Global Financial Crime Compliance framework. The candidate will also have dotted line reporting to the local compliance officer in Brazil.
In Financial Crimes, we look for individuals who have the experience and aptitude to work across different aspects of financial crime risk management. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with significant experience within financial crime and critically, who have held roles in different disciplines within financial crime and are demonstrably able to perform this role with success. We are looking for people who can operate at a senior, strategic level and are also executers and doers. The day-to-day work will include things like drafting policy changes, designing and delivering in-person training, reviewing potential new products and designing and implementing bespoke controls.
Overall Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced Financial Crime Compliance Lead for our LATAM region to establish and lead Financial Crime Compliance activities across Latin America (LATAM). The role will play a critical part in supporting the Firm's continued expansion in Latin America by ensuring that financial crime risks are appropriately identified, assessed, managed, and governed in a manner that is proportionate to the size, complexity, and evolving risk profile of the business.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter who thrives in a build-and-enhance environment, possesses strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills, and has the ability to influence change across diverse business and regulatory landscapes. The role will involve:
- Lead the Financial Crime Compliance program across Latin America.
- Act as the senior FCC representative for the region and provide strategic direction on financial crime risk management.
- Drive a strong culture of compliance, accountability, and risk awareness across all legal entities and business lines.
- Ensure regional implementation of global FCC policies, standards, and risk appetite requirements.
- Monitor emerging regulatory developments and assess the impact on the firm's risk and control environment.
- Oversee regional regulatory reporting obligations relating to financial crime compliance.
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and mitigation of financial crime risks across the region.
- Provide independent challenge and advice on strategic initiatives, new products, acquisitions, clients, and business expansion activities.
- Escalate significant regulatory, compliance, and reputational risks to senior management and governance committees.
- Support regional and global risk assessments and risk management initiatives.
- Oversee AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption, customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, investigations, and fraud risk management frameworks in Latin AmericeEnsure that policies, procedures, systems, and controls remain effective and proportionate to the firm's risk profile.\Drive continuous improvement through governance enhancements, technology solutions, and data-driven monitoring
- Ensure appropriate management information and metrics are produced to support effective oversight and decision-making

Competencies, Skills and Experience
- 10+ years of financial crime compliance experience within financial services
- Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and English
- Significant experience with Brazil and broader LATAM regulatory requirements, preferably within broker-dealer environments
- Deep expertise in AML, sanctions, and/or other financial crime risk disciplines
- Experience operating across multiple jurisdictions within a global financial services organization
- Proven ability to build, implement, or significantly enhance compliance frameworks and controls
- Strong risk management judgment, with the ability to make and clearly articulate risk-based decisions
