Description

Introduction to the Job

As a Mechanical Engineer at ASML, you will help develop technology that makes advanced semiconductor manufacturing possible. Your work will contribute to innovative systems that power technologies used every day, including artificial intelligence, healthcare, communication, and consumer electronics.

In this Mechanical Engineer role, you will lead complex mechanical design activities, own critical module-level deliverables, and influence technical decisions across interconnected systems. You will collaborate with engineers, suppliers, and stakeholders to solve challenging technical problems while balancing quality, performance, manufacturability, and delivery objectives.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and delivering complex mechanical designs throughout the product development lifecycle. You will work independently within your area of expertise while collaborating across teams to achieve project goals and support ASML's commitment to innovation, quality, and operational excellence.

You will:

  • Lead the design and development of complex mechanical modules, components, and engineering solutions.
  • Define, analyze, and manage design requirements while ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Conduct research, feasibility studies, and technical evaluations to support informed engineering decisions.
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, including material selection and technical documentation.
  • Support system integration, testing, validation, and continuous improvement activities to ensure product quality.
  • Identify technical risks, develop creative solutions, and balance quality with timely project delivery.
  • Mentor and guide engineers while promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and engineering best practices.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design, product development, or complex engineering systems.
  • Experience leading technical projects, subsystems, or module-level design activities.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, manufacturing processes, and system integration.
  • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) software and engineering analysis tools.
  • Experience creating technical specifications, engineering documentation, and design reviews.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in environments with technical uncertainty.
  • Knowledge of how mechanical systems interact within larger product architectures.

Skills

Working at the cutting edge of tech, you’ll always have new challenges and new problems to solve – and working together is the only way to do that. You won’t work in a silo. Instead, you’ll be part of a creative, dynamic work environment where you’ll collaborate with supportive colleagues. There is always space for creative and unique points of view. You’ll have the flexibility and trust to choose how best to tackle tasks and solve problems.

To thrive in this job, you’ll need the following skills:

  • Apply analytical thinking to solve complex engineering challenges.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
  • Develop innovative and practical solutions in technically uncertain environments.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Balance competing priorities while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability, and sound engineering judgment.
  • Mentor and support colleagues through coaching and knowledge sharing.
  • Adapt quickly to evolving technologies, priorities, and business needs.
  • Use structured problem-solving approaches to identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Promote safe working practices and contribute to a positive team environment.

Additional Responsibilities: There is potential for exposure to strong magnetic fields, high voltage and currents.
