Geosyntec is growing and we are looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to serve as a Team Leader and Manager within the Structural Engineering Team. This position will be based in our Syracuse, NY office. This position may offer flexibility to work a hybrid schedule at the discretion of the company.  As a member of our growing practice, you will be asked to apply your knowledge of structural engineering to series of technically diverse and unique construction projects.  As a manager your job will be to provide technical oversight, team coordination and workload leveling, and lead design teams through the engineering process and plan development.  As Geosyntec has a very diverse set of clients, there is a broad spectrum of projects that may involve; bridge and heavy-civil construction, erection and controlled demolition engineering, earth retaining structures, complex foundations, and/or dams and containment structures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-career and early career professionals throughout the design process, often serving as the senior reviewer of calculations and structural models;
• Assist in the coordination of workloads and project task priorities within the Structural Team;
• Coordinate with regional and practice Business leaders to develop scopes of work and levels of effort for proposals.  Attend as necessary site walks and client meetings;
• Develop new opportunities for above grade structure design; tank design, low-rise buildings.;
• Support the development of Statement of Qualifications;
• Be able to serve as Engineer of Record;
• Provide quality control of construction documents;
• Structural Condition Assessments;
• Contribute as required as a designer and detailer;
• Coordinate with our Technical Manager on the development of standards and work flow processes; and
• Structural value engineering, third party design and constructability review, and risk assessment.
• Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as need.

Education and Licensure

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural engineering focus. (required)
• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural). (preferred)
• Professional registration as a Professional Engineer (P.E.). (required)
• Professional registration as a Structural Engineer (S.E.) (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

• At least 8 years directly relevant experience in a design environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
• Minimum of 5 years managing direct reports. (required)
• Experience in the design and detailing of steel connections and reinforced concrete. (required)
• Experience in repair/retrofit design of concrete and steel structures. (required)
• Knowledge of relevant structural engineering design and detailing software (RISA, ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, SAFE, GSA, etc.) (required)
• Knowledge of design collaboration software (Bluebeam Studio), and operation of CAD/VDC/BIM software (AutoCAD, Revit, etc.). (preferred)
• Knowledge of general numerical modeling tools. (preferred)
• Experience working within the construction sector or performing design work for contractors/construction managers. (preferred)
• Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, and meeting strict deadlines. (required)
• Field work and overnight travel may be required. 
• Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred) 
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required. 
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec’s total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

• Minimum Salary: $117,370/year / Maximum Salary: $164,320 /year (City, State)
