Ball State Public Media is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Membership & Event Assistant. This position offers an exciting opportunity to support fundraising, membership, and community engagement efforts that help advance the mission of public media. The successful candidate will assist with donor relations, membership campaigns, event planning, and audience engagement initiatives while delivering outstanding customer service to members, donors, and community partners. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, coordinating events, and contributing to meaningful work that connects, informs, and enriches our community.

What you'll do and what you'll bring:

Position Function:

The Membership & Event Assistant plays a key role in advancing Ball State Public Media's fundraising, membership, and community engagement efforts. This position supports donor stewardship and membership operations while helping to plan and execute events that strengthen audience connections and philanthropic support. Working collaboratively with staff, community partners, and donors, the coordinator delivers exceptional customer service, supports fundraising campaigns, and helps create meaningful experiences that enhance the organization's mission and impact.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage donor and membership processing, including gifts, pledges, record maintenance, and confidential financial information in Public Media databases
• Provide exceptional member support by responding to inquiries via phone and email and preparing acknowledgment letters and stewardship communications.
• Generate reports, maintain donor databases, and manage lists
• Support fundraising initiatives through direct mail, email campaigns, membership renewals, on-air drives, and special events.
• Assist with membership operations by overseeing premium fulfillment, tracking inventory, coordinating supplies, and collaborating with Ball State Public Media staff to achieve fundraising and audience engagement goals.
• Coordinate and support the planning and execution of Ball State Public Media events annually, collaborating with staff, vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and community partners to ensure successful outcomes
• Plan and manage small community engagement events and special programs throughout the year, including educational, cultural, and family-focused activities that support Public Media’s goals.
• Communicate effectively with community organizations, municipal agencies, vendors, and stakeholders, securing permits, licenses, and other approvals necessary for event operations.
• Other related duties as assigned
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate degree or an additional two years of related experience will be accepted in lieu of an associates degree.
• At least one year of related experience in fundraising, events, or related area.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a communication-related field
