Lead Devops Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Lead DevOps Engineer to join our Technology Centre of Excellence and play a key role in driving platform reliability, automation, and engineering excellence across the organisation.

In this role, you'll blend strategic thinking with hands-on technical expertise, helping establish best practices, operational standards, and governance across our cloud and on-premises environments. Working with technologies including Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and event-streaming platforms, you'll lead initiatives that improve resilience, scalability, and performance while empowering teams to deliver with confidence.

We're seeking someone who enjoys solving complex problems, thrives in collaborative environments, and is passionate about mentoring others, driving continuous improvement, and building reliable technology foundations that enable innovation at scale.

What you’ll do

• Lead the management and optimisation of Kafka, Pega, middleware services, Azure cloud, and Kubernetes platforms.
• Drive reliability through automation, monitoring, observability, and DevOps best practices.
• Build and enhance CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) capabilities.
• Support platform upgrades, migrations, and strategic technology initiatives.
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
• Embed security, compliance, and operational risk controls across platform operations.
• Partner with engineering, architecture, and security teams to deliver business-critical outcomes.
• Mentor engineers and help uplift platform engineering standards across the organisation.
  

What we’re looking for

• Significant experience in DevOps, Platform Engineering, SRE, or Infrastructure Engineering roles.
• Strong expertise across Azure, Kubernetes, Kafka, middleware technologies, and hybrid cloud environments.
• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code and modern CI/CD toolchains.
• A strong focus on platform reliability, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Experience managing major incidents and production environments at scale.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• A passion for continuous improvement, automation, and developing others.
