Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage patient referrals and authorizations within the electronic health record system.
- Schedule specialty appointments, diagnostic testing, procedures, and follow-up visits.
- Verify insurance information and authorization requirements.
- Coordinate with providers, clinical staff, patients, and external healthcare facilities.
- Communicate referral status and appointment details to patients and care teams.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update insurance information as needed.
- Monitor expiring referrals and ensure continuity of patient care.
- Serve as a resource for patients and providers regarding referral processes.
- Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
- Support departmental goals related to productivity, quality, and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2-3 years of healthcare or medical office experience preferred.
- Experience with referrals, scheduling, insurance verification, prior authorizations, or specialty practice operations preferred.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in a specialty physician practice or healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience with Epic or other Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Understanding of insurance requirements, referrals, and authorizations.
- Familiarity with ICD-10 and CPT coding concepts is a plus.
