How You Will Make an Impact
In a compassionate, hospitable and non-judgmental manner the Cook under supervision will be responsible for the preparation and provision of all meals and snacks for the Guests of our Emergency Shelter, Community Hot Meal Program and Catering functions.
Responsible for participating in Good Shepherd's Health and Safety programs, procedures, procedures and work in compliance with the provisions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations to minimize risk to clients, staff and others as well as to the property of the Good Shepherd.
What You'll Bring to Our Team
- Minimum Academic requirement is a High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2-year diploma from a recognized Culinary Management/Food Services program is a definite asset, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 3 years' progressive culinary experience in professional kitchens
- A valid G-class drivers' license and clean abstract
- Valid Food Handler's Certification
- Negative TB Test required before beginning work
- WHMIS training/First-Aid training are definite assets
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace health and safety practices and understanding of an employee's responsibility under current legislation
