Job Responsibilities
- Focus on the elevation of Design Excellence/ luxury design through successful project deliverables within the business portfolio.
- The Executive Director of Interior Design will be responsible to support all business units/ teams, and colleagues, collaborate with consultants for Design Excellence and CAPEX initiatives.
- Manage specific new project planning and due diligence/ in addition to long range planning for CAPEX initiatives, all while building new and maintaining current CAPEX tools, Space Planning/Design initiatives, adhering to Design Narratives and Design & Construction Standards.
- Responsible for projects which are critical for Design, Operations and Technical assessments to achieve Global SVP-Design approval for projects – be they conversions, renovations and new construction as well as departmental contributions.
- Work proactively and collaboratively with both internal business units and operations and external partners on such key objectives as interior design briefs and design objectives, space planning and programming to achieve operational efficiencies. Collaborate with the DPM teams in this effort to clearly explain design expectations to establish a joint understanding of desired quality and deliverables.
- The Executive Director of Interior Design will provide strategic recommendations to improve the inherent value of the asset through elevated interior architectural detailing and design, product quality and timely delivery, being mindful of Owner budgets and schedules. These objectives should be seen as part of ongoing training for continued professional development.
- This position will ensure the design sophistication and aesthetic of the overall interior design to meet global standards and adheres to the Brand requirements of the organization, drive the creative design process resulting in award winning projects.
- More specifically this role requires conceptual thinking, understanding of construction means and methods, detailed cost estimates and assessing potential scheduling constraints.
- Drive Luxury Brand alignment, including program, budget, planning and interior design due diligence initiatives, providing mentorship to our key partners including internal stakeholders, Operations and DPM teams, in concert with third party owner’s, architects, design and technical consultants.
- Encourage collaborative work sessions, both in-person and electronic, to foster positive team member relationships.
- Project evaluations and recommendations shall optimize the quality of the guest experience and overall performance of the property.
- Projects will encompass long-range CAPEX planning, acquisition due diligence efforts, ‘property improvement planning’ development, property and project assessments, and site and desktop evaluations for conversions, renovations and new construction projects.
- Drive the evolution of the Operations CAPEX planning initiative and all respective CAPEX projects, adhere to ‘Design Excellence’ Narratives, Documentation and Construction Standards, specific design initiatives, communication tools, etc.
- Develop RFP’s, consultant contracts and manage contract resolution as necessary.
- Collaboratively evaluate and make recommendations for improvements to ‘Design Excellence’ effectiveness and efficiencies.
- Collaborate closely with the Global VP of Interior Design and the SVP of Global Interior Design with the management of the ID Directors and regional ID team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Certification
- 4-year Degree from an accredited interior design or architecture program
Experience:
- 20 years+ global experience with proven track record in handling luxury resort projects or large-scale mixed-use developments at major consultancy firms and developers
- Experience and knowledge of all aspects of Integrated Resort design, including space planning, interior design, FF&E, materials;
- Extensive experience implementing design processes, including driving current consultants’ practices, scope and abilities;
- Experience with managing teams and complex projects, including design team organizational structures and resources
- Experience with broad, complex teams delivering projects for large-scale commercial buildings
- Experience in large-scale Integrated Resorts and/or Regulated Casino Environments is preferred, but not critical
Other Prerequisites
- Ability to convey subject matter expertise in design
- Strong leadership skills in communication, strategic planning, resource management, and stakeholder engagement
- Strong interpersonal skills to relate well with all project-related functions, consultants and contractors
- Complex problem solving and creative solution skills, and ability to work under pressure and meet challenging deadlines
- Outstanding executive presence and senior stakeholder management communication skills.
- Use of Microsoft Office, Acrobat, Photoshop and basic Autocad
- Robust overall knowledge of delivering within Hospitality and in particular regulated Gaming operations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
