Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit a Solution Designer to develop robust and practical technology solutions across key ICT and university initiatives. Working within the ICT Solution Architecture team, you will help shape solutions that support the University’s strategic and operational priorities to support its core education andresearch goals

The Opportunity
As a Solution Designer, you will work from business and project requirements to determine practical technology solutions within the University’s enterprise architecture standards and guardrails. You will develop and document high-level and detailed solution designs, work closely with business stakeholders and technical specialists, and provide technical leadership throughout solution delivery.
You will collaborate across application, infrastructure, cloud, security and other technology teams, preparing designs for stakeholder and governance review and helping delivery teams implement approved solutions. You will also contribute to solution design standards, templates and strategies, and share knowledge across the team.
You’ll join a collaborative and supportive environment where diverse perspectives are valued, with flexible working arrangements and opportunities to contribute to impactful projects. This role is ideal for a technically strong and collaborative professional who can translate business needs into practical solutions, communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders, and manage competing priorities in a complex project environment.
What you’ll do
Develop high-level and detailed solution designs for ICT and business initiatives
Work with business stakeholders and project teams to determine appropriate solution options from agreed requirements
Design and document how applications, integrations and technology components work together
Collaborate with application specialists, infrastructure, cloud operations and security teams throughout solution delivery
Prepare solution designs for stakeholder, governance and peer review, and communicate risks, issues and decisions
Provide technical leadership and guidance to delivery teams throughout projects
Contribute to solution design standards, templates and strategies, while mentoring and sharing knowledge with other team members
What we’re looking for
Proven experience developing and documenting high-level and detailed solution designs
Strong understanding of applications, application integration, technology stacks and cloud environments
Understanding of non-functional requirements and how they influence solution design, including security considerations
Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively across business and technical teams
Experience working across complex ICT projects and managing competing priorities within agreed timeframes
Experience working in both agile and waterfall delivery environments, with a relevant postgraduate qualification and/or equivalent combination of training and experience
Willingness to adapt to, and apply new and emerging techniques and skills in your work practices.
