As a Mechanical Inspector, you would inspect and provide oversight of construction contractors, Central Arizona Project (CAP) construction forces, or suppliers, and execute quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with contract specifications or industry standards during construction of new CAP facilities, repair of existing facilities or construction of facilities by others within CAP rights-of-way.
Some of the duties include:
1. Performs inspections and enforces contract requirements for all construction activities including, but not limited to, earthwork, structures, electrical, mechanical, coating, concrete, architectural installations, deep well drilling and cathodic protection installation. Observes and enforces CAP safety regulations. This position has a background and expertise in the Mechanical discipline and also handles the construction inspection and oversight on multidiscipline construction projects.
2. Maintains daily contact with contractor’s representatives to review work schedule, work performed, correct deficiencies, review “As-Built” drawings, and discuss ongoing and future activities to alleviate potential problems.
3. Initiates and submits records of incidents and unusual conditions affecting contractor activities, and using a computer, prepares daily inspection reports describing construction progress of assigned activities
4. Accepts materials based on approved project submittals.
About the Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years of crafts and trades construction inspection experience with two (2) or more years in a related construction craft.
- Completion of a state-certified Mechanical, HVAC, or Plumbing apprenticeship program; or the equivalent combination of vocational or specialized training and additional experience.
- Must be computer literate and competent in word processing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
- This is a safety-sensitive position and requires physical testing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Utility line locator certification.
- OSHA 30 Certification
- Familiarity with NFPA, ASME and ASTM codes.
- Ability to read and understand isometric diagrams, electrical wiring one line drawings and schematic drawings.
- Specific experience with large mechanical valves, HVAC systems, and/or plumbing systems.
