Snapshot

📍LOCATION: 80% Remote + 20% In-Office + Must be willing to travel to ALL AZA locations, as needed
💰PAY: (Starting Range$108,000-$140,000 DOE + Participate in our Scheduled Raise Program
🕒ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE:  Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Job Summary

The Director of Regulatory Compliance is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the organization’s compliance program to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations, accreditation standards, contractual requirements, and organizational policies.  

The Director is responsible for ensuring the organization has the necessary infrastructure to monitor compliance and operational efficiency across the organization. This position works collaboratively across departments to identify and mitigate risk while promoting a culture of ethics, integrity, and accountability.

The Director provides leadership and direct oversight of the organization’s compliance, quality assurance, investigations, training, and risk mitigation activities. 


Job Duties:

Compliance Program Management 

  • Oversee the organization's compliance function, including compliance monitoring, auditing, investigations, reporting, and corrective action processes. 

  • Develop, implement, and maintain an effective healthcare compliance program 

  • Monitor regulatory requirements and assess how they change the organization’s operations  

  • Establish and update compliance policies and procedures 

  • Maintain awareness of industry best practices and emerging compliance risks 

  • Conduct internal audits and investigations to ensure compliance with regulations and funding source standards. 

  • Investigate reports of compliance violations, misconduct, fraud, waste or abuse; coordinate with regulatory bodies as needed 

  • Address the findings from audits and investigations; track remediation efforts to ensure deficiencies are resolved and documented 

  • Prepare and present compliance reports and metrics to executive leadership and the governing board 

    Quality Assurance 

  • Oversee the organizations quality assurance activities to ensure compliance with regulatory, contractual, accreditation, and organizational standards. 

  • Conduct risk assessments to identify areas of regulatory and operational risk and make recommendations for controls 

  • Manage critical processes surrounding the health and safety of staff and clients in all work environments 

  • Manage the incident reporting process to comply with regulations and align with best practices 

  • Manage external licensing processes and requirements as well as funding source or regulator audits. 

  • Oversee systems for reporting, investigating, trending, and corrective action planning related to incidents, complaints, critical events, and regulatory disclosures. 

  • In conjunction with the IT department, oversee organizational compliance with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to ensure proper handling of protected health information 

    Compliance Training 

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the organization's training and workforce development programs. 

  • Ensure all required training programs meet regulatory, contractual, accreditation, and organizational requirements. 

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and implement improvements based on organizational needs, compliance requirements, quality outcomes, and employee feedback. 

  • Partner with operational and clinical leaders to identify training needs and develop targeted learning initiatives. 

  • Develop, implement, and oversee the organization’s compliance and ethics training program for employees and providers 

  • Foster a culture of compliance throughout the organization  

  • Ensure all staff maintain required certification and compliance requirements, from the time of hire through termination 

  • Oversee the organization's Learning Management System (LMS) and related training records. 

Develop and support supervisees, and perform similar duties as needed: 

  • Provide training, serve as direct supervisor, and manage performance for members of the  Compliance team. 
  • Help team members solve day-to-day issues with clients, staff, vendors, funding entities or other related parties. 
  • Perform supervisee-level duties as needed to ensure completion, either temporarily or ongoing. 
  • Develop extensive expertise related to the organization’s compliance requirements

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required (Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Business Administration, Health Information Management, etc.); Master’s degree preferred 

  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience managing professional staff and cross-functional teams 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare compliance, regulatory affairs, internal audits, risk management, etc. 
  • Experience working with Medicaid-managed care, AHCCCS, DDD, behavioral health, home and community-based services, or related human service programs strongly preferred. 
  • Preferred Certifications include Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) 

  • Experience with nonprofit, human services and/or healthcare organizations strongly preferred 

  • Successfully pass a background check, able to obtain a Fingerprint Clearance Card, and meet other related hiring requirements 

  • Computer Proficiency: Windows & MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.), other enterprise systems and databases
