Description
The Forsyth County Department of Social Services is seeking a dependable and professional Transportation Aide to support safe, timely, and compassionate transportation services for both adults and children. This role ensures individuals are transported to and from a variety of settings, including the agency, grocery stores, pharmacies, schools, daycare centers, medical appointTransports disabled adults (age 18 and older) and elderly (age 60 and over) to appointments, essential errands, and supportive services as directed by Social Worker.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide safe, punctual transportation for children and adults to designated locations.
Coordinate daily morning calls with placements to confirm each client’s pick-up and drop-off location.
Maintain accurate documentation of all contacts, transportation activities, and trip logs.
Demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, and strong customer service at all times.
Assist in monitoring client well-being during transport and report any concerns to supervisory staff.
Follow all agency policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
Uphold high standards of communication, courtesy, and respect when interacting with clients, staff, and partner agencies.
High School Diploma or GED
Ability to read and write information relevant to performing the work
Ability to perform overall physical demands such as Medium - Lifting 20-50 lbs. occasionally, 10-20 lbs. frequently or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
Driving and walking up to several hours a day.
Must possess a valid drivers license, primary duty will be to drive a county car to transport clients.
Requires the ability to collaborate, knowledge of community resources, ability to effectively communicate (both orally and written) with a diverse population from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds and a variety of physical and/or mental capabilities, must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced office environment.

- Ability to organize work and maintain a daily schedule to execute work efficiently
- Ability to navigate around county and adjoining counties - Ability to use Microsoft Office Products and must possess computer skills
- Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients on information and instructions given by social workers and other professionals
- Ability to maintain professional working relationships with clients and other employees
- Must possess time management skills and must be accountable
- Knowledge of social, economic and environmental conditions of the clients to be served

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
This position has been identified to interact with children and must comply with NC G.S. 153A-94.2(b) “requires an applicant for employment to work with children in any capacity, must require the applicant, if offered the position, to be subject to a criminal history record check conducted by the SBI.” These checks must be conducted in accordance with G.S. 143B-1209.26, the statute which authorizes the SBI to provide a fingerprint-based state and national criminal record check to cities and counties.
