At Educate! we're obsessed with impact. We leverage iterative learning to build highly scalable youth employment solutions aimed at unlocking the potential of the world’s youngest continent.
Educate! prepares youth in Africa to learn, earn and thrive in today’s economy by:
- Introducing an employment-focused school subject into secondary and
- Delivering livelihood boot camps for out-of-school youth, with a focus on marginalized rural girls and young women.
To date, more than 500,000 youth have been meaningfully impacted across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and along the way, Educate! has become the largest youth employment and skills provider in East Africa.

Position Overview
At Educate!, we build learning experiences that change what youth employment looks like across Africa — products reaching hundreds of thousands of young people in Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. As Senior Product Manager — Rwanda Portfolio, you will own the translation of the broader strategy to quarterly strategy aligned to the learning experience (LX) strategy and agreed roadmap set for Rwanda for the PBA Sustainability Phase and the AI for Systems Change Product Suite. This is not a programme management role. It is a product role with real strategic authority over what gets built, how it gets tested, and whether it scales.
Rwanda’s team is small. There is no dedicated designer on the ground. As a result, this role carries a dual mandate: product strategy and learning experience (LX) design. You will own both — from defining what gets built and why, leveraging the wider design team for support, to making sure the materials, tools, and experiences that reach students, teachers, and district officials are grounded in evidence and fit for context.
You will work closely with the Global Director, ESS & Tech Products, who sets the broader strategy. Your job is to translate that strategic direction into executed, evidence-backed products at speed — and over time to take on increasing ownership of investment decisions, government engagement, and strategic oversight.
If you are a hands-on operator who also thinks strategically, can hold ambiguity without losing momentum, and want to work at the front edge of AI in education, this is the role for you.

What You’ll Do🌟
Rwanda Portfolio Strategy
Strategic commitment: Operationalize the product strategy for the PBA Sustainability Phase and AI for Systems Change — within the strategic direction set by the Global Director — making deliberate trade-offs, surfacing risks proactively, and building toward full ownership of next-stage decisions over time.
- Design and iteratively test a project bank of student projects, coordinating teacher designers through rubric development, testing, proofreading, and deployment in collaboration with NESA.
- Design and test the Coach Fabs virtual coaching model for students and teachers across delivery formats (hybrid and fully online; synchronous and asynchronous), structuring sessions around measurable behavioural change.
- Own and maintain Rwanda's core strategy artefacts: value proposition, theory of change, lean canvas for AI products, user personas, and product risk register — kept live and decision-relevant.
- Contribute to Tanzania Phase 2 Business Studies Fund design, drawing on Rwanda's proof of concept and lessons from experimentation with the DDE fund.
Learning Experience Design & Product Quality
Strategic commitment: Own LX design for Rwanda's full product suite — PBA materials, Coach Fabs session guides, dashboard training, and CPD tools — ensuring every touchpoint is grounded in evidence and fit for Rwanda's context.
- Own the full suite of product builds: project bank materials, rubrics, student and teacher session guides, assessment tools, and workshop materials — from brief to final deployment.
- Own LX strategy and user journeys across both PBA and AI products — set quality standards, establish review mechanisms, and hold any external designers or consultants accountable to them.
- Lead the design of Coach Fabs' Kinyarwanda-localised AI coaching experience — working with the tech team and local language leads to validate tone, vocabulary, and pedagogical approach.
- Design the CPD tracking interface requirements for the digital monitoring tool — translating district workflow realities into a product brief for the infrastructure partner, liaising with REB on the prototype.
Product Development & Experimentation
Strategic commitment: Run structured, evidence-generating experiments that answer Rwanda's highest-stakes product questions — and translate findings into clear decisions, not just reports.
- Own the full learning and experiments agenda for Rwanda's AI products — defining what must be learned at each stage, how evidence will be generated, and how findings feed into the investment cases.
- Own Coach Fabs' measurement framework for students and teachers — defining business action indicators (problem identified, customers spoken to, first sale) and designing data collection to attribute impact above the PBA baseline; and for teachers, defining indicators that capture whether 'assign, feedback, and present' are being supported through the digital tool.
- Scope and manage the student coaching platform for Rwanda — working with the tech team to adapt LLM infrastructure for Kinyarwanda-language delivery.
- Contribute to the CPD evaluation plan — baseline data collection, indicator definition, and digital monitoring pilot design in partnership with REB.
Government & Stakeholder Engagement
Strategic commitment: Maintain and deepen Educate!'s partnership with NESA, REB, and district officials — ensuring government co-ownership of Rwanda's PBA and AI agenda, and progressively taking on more of the external relationship work currently shared with the Global Director.
- Lead district and national workshop facilitation on PBA projects and competitions — driving active government collaboration and institutional buy-in.
- Coordinate with NESA on PBA national exam integration, delivery logistics, and quality assurance; coordinate with DDEs and DEOs on SEI accountability and school competition delivery.
- Lead NESA, REB, and DDE/DEO engagement independently — handling strategic conversations and surfacing product risks without Global leadership in the room.
- Own the CPD and partner infrastructure relationships — coordinating roles, avoiding duplication, and aligning the CPD monitoring tool with existing reporting chains and teacher management structures.
Documentation, Systems Building & Knowledge Management
Strategic commitment: Convert Rwanda's experimental work into structured, institutionalised systems that reduce dependence on individuals, enable the team to operate without central support, and build institutional memory that allows Rwanda to scale.
- Create and maintain SOPs for PBA design, selection, training, and deployment processes; document all experiment findings systematically in Confluence — not just what happened, but the rationale and what it means for next decisions.
- Build and maintain Rwanda's product performance dashboard — tracking PBA and AI metrics and using it actively in strategic decisions, not just for reporting.
- Lead budget variance (BvA) reviews for Rwanda's product budgets — identifying variances, flagging cost risks, and making financial trade-off recommendations to the Global Director.
- Create institutional memory that allows government stakeholders and internal teams to operate independently — reducing single points of failure at every level of the programme.
Who You Are 🦸♀️🦸♂️
- Demonstrated ability to translate strategy into executed products — you have shipped something, measured it, and used the evidence to make the next call.
- Experience managing government or institutional stakeholders in a low-resource, high-stakes context — and a track record of building trust without relying on seniority to open doors.
- Comfort holding ambiguity — you can move fast when the brief is incomplete and know when to ask and when to decide.
- Learning experience or instructional design instinct — you think about how information lands, not just what it says.
- Strong written and analytical communication — you can write a concise synthesis that moves a decision, not just a status report.
- Kinyarwanda fluency and familiarity with Rwanda's education system, government structures, and political landscape is strongly preferred.
