Ciena is seeking a Regional Operational Leader, APJ Submarine to lead regional services and operations for complex submarine network deployments. The role drives project delivery, operational excellence, customer satisfaction, and financial performance across a portfolio of large-scale telecommunications initiatives. Success in this position contributes directly to the growth, reliability, and long-term value of Ciena's submarine services business.
How you will make an impact:
Lead regional services and operations activities, including project delivery, training delivery, and post-sales support in alignment with contractual requirements.
Coordinate project execution, resource allocation, and delivery performance to achieve schedule, scope, and budget commitments.
Manage maintenance activities for deployed networks and achieve service level agreement commitments and customer satisfaction objectives.
Direct organizational planning, forecasting, risk management, change management, and business performance reporting across the regional services portfolio.
Drive collaboration across internal and external stakeholders to meet customer expectations and business objectives.
Develop and execute services cross-sell and upsell strategies to expand customer engagement and revenue opportunities.
Lead pre-sales and sales support activities, including development of project plans, services statements of work, pricing models, and contract negotiation support.
Manage organizational capability by leading project directors, project managers, PMO functions, network engineers, technicians, and field service partners to deliver operational excellence.
Oversee financial performance across the regional services portfolio, including revenue, margin, invoicing, cash collection, forecasting, and business performance reporting.
Manage operational, project, and geopolitical risks, including activities in high-risk jurisdictions, while ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are implemented.
The must haves:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or relevant years' work experience.
Experience: Min 15+years in the technology industry in a leadership role, preferably including services and customer-facing role experience.
Ability to translate global services objectives into regional services plans.
Ability to build credibility and relationships with customer decision makers, Ciena leaders, and partners.
Budget-focused mindset with commitment to customer-driven business growth.
Demonstrated organizational leadership experience managing a services organization operating across multiple countries in the technology sector.
Application of operational deployment practices for complex next-generation telecommunication networks in the optical and submarine space.
Nice to haves:
Ability to build relationships with business executives, influencers, and decision makers.
Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
Demonstrated organizational operations experience with regional accounts.
Ability to defend Ciena service proposals and negotiate contracts on behalf of Ciena.
