Registered Veterinary Technician - Acequia Animal Hospital

Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Acequia Animal Hospital has proudly served the community for more than 20 years. This full-service small-animal practice provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats, including wellness and preventive medicine, dentistry, diagnostics and imaging, surgery, pharmacy services, and acupuncture. With an experienced and dedicated team, Acequia is committed to providing compassionate, individualized care while creating an uplifting environment for both pets and the people who love them.

We are currently looking for an experienced Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented technician with strong clinical skills and hands-on surgical experience who can take an active role in our surgical and general practice caseload.

What You'll Do

• Provide high-quality nursing care for hospitalized and surgical patients
• Prepare patients for surgery, including catheter placement, bloodwork, surgical prep, and anesthesia setup
• Induce, monitor, and recover patients under anesthesia
• Monitor surgical patients and communicate changes to the Veterinarian
• Assist with surgical procedures and maintain appropriate surgical protocols
• Perform dental cleanings and assist with dental procedures
• Obtain and process laboratory samples and assist with diagnostic procedures
• Administer medications and treatments as directed
• Monitor and document patient progress throughout treatment and recovery
• Educate clients on medications, post-operative care, and treatment plans
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure treatment areas and equipment are clean and properly maintained
• Support the broader veterinary team with appointments, treatments, and patient care as needed

What We're Looking For

• Current RVT/LVT/CVT credential in good standing
• Previous Veterinary Technician experience, with strong surgical experience required
• Confident anesthesia monitoring and perioperative patient care skills
• Strong understanding of surgical preparation, sterile technique, and patient recovery
• Comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with veterinarians and support staff
• Excellent communication and client-service skills
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a busy clinical environment
• Compassionate, dependable, and committed to high-quality patient care and ensure a clean, organized work environment. 

Compensation $19+/hr and is negotiable depending on experience.
