About the Job
The Manager, Patient Registration is responsible for ensuring staff deliver exceptional service and promote the Southern New Hampshire Health experience to every patient accessing the health system. This leader oversees staffing, operations, training, and performance management to ensure accurate and timely patient registration, supporting efficient patient care and appropriate reimbursement. The role partners closely with clinical and revenue cycle leaders to optimize registration processes, compliance, and patient financial experience.
What You’ll Do
Lead, mentor, and support Patient Registration staff across all shifts while ensuring appropriate departmental coverage.
Provide registration support across hospital departments during evening and night hours as needed.
Ensure team members receive the training, education, and resources necessary to deliver excellent patient service.
Collaborate with clinical leadership to support patient needs and organizational goals.
Troubleshoot operational and system-related issues and escalate concerns when appropriate.
Assist with patient registration during high-volume periods.
Ensure staff are prepared for emergency and disaster situations and participate in drills as needed.
Monitor registration quality and collection performance, providing regular feedback and coaching to staff.
Address employee performance issues, conduct evaluations, and support recognition and corrective action processes.
Lead staff meetings and ensure compliance with regulatory, organizational, and educational requirements.
Maintain registration documentation and ensure forms are complete, accurate, and up to date.
Partner with revenue cycle teams to resolve registration quality concerns and improve workflows.
Support the development and improvement of registration policies and procedures.
Oversee contracted vendor activities related to Medicaid eligibility, enrollment assistance, marketplace enrollment, and collections.
Ensure appropriate consent forms are signed and patient payments are collected at the time of service.
Audit collection records and monitor compliance with cash control procedures.
Assist with departmental budget development and other assigned responsibilities.
Maintain expertise in EMTALA, CMS regulations, payer requirements, and registration best practices.
Who You Are / Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required.
In lieu of a degree, an additional four years of relevant experience may be substituted.
Minimum of 5-7 years of hospital registration or physician office operations experience required.
Equivalent experience without a degree requires 9-11 years of hospital registration or physician office operations experience.
Working knowledge of payer regulations and governmental reimbursement requirements.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills.
Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and effectively prioritize competing demands.
Experience with financial assistance or charity care programs preferred.
Epic experience preferred.
Hybrid work environment with on-site presence required based on operational needs and manager approval.
