Description
Established by the Indiana Constitution, the Marion County Clerk is the custodian of all court records, issues marriage licenses, and serves as the court’s fiscal agent and trustee of child support payments. The Election Board receives nominations and petitions for elections, as well prepares ballots, and maintains voting machines by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis and Marion County.
Incumbent in this position is responsible for performing a variety of complex accounting functions. Accounts payable and receivable functions. Process payroll and assist with preparations of the budget and contracts.

- Calculate pay of the employees by checking their attendance, benefit leave, holidays and overtime on their time sheets. Detect payroll discrepancies. Provides work direction and training to supervisors and managers of our payroll system.
- Review contract terms and conditions making sure they comply with policies along with any government rules which may apply. Oversee the development of contractual requirements relating to financial performance matters in all agreements with vendors.
- Serves as a liaison between the Clerk’s agency and various agencies and institutions such as FSSA, State Board of Accounts, local, state, and federal auditors, and other city and county agencies and divisions.
- Analyzes and processes accounts payable and receivables in a timely manner. Handles all vendor correspondence via phone or email.
- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Public Administration or related field. One (1) year of experience may be substituted for each year of required education. Excellent customer service. Ability to coordinate multiple projects and meet various deadlines is a must. Must have the ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks. Must be able to communicate effectively orally, verbally, and in written formats. Must have excellent analytical ability and be able to work with limited supervision. Attention to detail is a priority.
Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
Knowledge of PeopleSoft.
Essential functions are regularly performed in an office setting without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
