Logistics Shift Controller, Epping Mill, Cape Town

In this role, you will:

  • The role of this position is to ensure that all materials are timeously staged and supplied to the machines within the Mill in relation to the day-to-day business demand. The control and process of all the materials movements that are supplied to the machines with the best quality materials, with the correct quantities at the right time.

  • Participate actively in the departments Safety, ETQ, 6S, LSW, QMS and compliance programs

  • Manage and control staging of materials to assets daily in line with CFI’s, S&OP's, WI's and KPI's

  • Manage picking process for asset requirements and process Issue transactions into SAP

  • Responsible for processing FG's production receipts when scanning system fails and SAP not updated

  • After-hours responsible to count and adjust FG’s and release saleable FG's to DHL - ensure documents are signed off by both KC and DHL when stock is removed

  • Check, put-away and process returns from the assets, NCR's and rejected material

  • Manage emergency call-off material once plan, BOM, waivers and substitution materials are checked. Asset overruns need approval.

  • Meet with Machine Leads or Site Managers to check if there are any concerns, i.e. materials rejected and shortages of materials

  • Ensure no returns left in the stage area at end of shift

  • Process all SAP transactions for the shift before hand-over to the next Controller

  • Ensure warehouse and materials are properly stacked, quantities visible and count sheets drawn up for wall-to-wall counts

  • Prepare export and local material transfers and supply all relevant information required

  • Control and manage material to and from assets, materials moved in/out of the NCR cage (NCR and TM)

  • Control and manage materials moved in/out of the rebate cage (TRIP) and ensure the cage is locked when no movement as per SARS rules

  • Manage FLT driver on shift

  • Ensure forklifts checklists are done and non-conformances are acted

  • Ensure forklifts are kept clean and operating hours managed as per contract

  • Do Cycle counts as per count program and investigate variances

  • Ensure materials, A-Safe and bins are dust free, rebate and block areas compliant and stacking safe

You are a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with strong maintenance and reliability experience in a high-speed FMCG manufacturing environment. You enjoy solving complex equipment problems, driving technical improvements, implementing equipment modifications, and developing effective maintenance strategies that maximize equipment performance, safety, quality, and production efficiency. You thrive in a collaborative environment, working closely with Operations, Process, Electrical, and Engineering teams while championing continuous improvement and engineering excellence.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Tertiary Qualification in Supply Chain – NQF 6 / 7

  • SAP literacy - essential

  • 2 – 3 years of relevant experience: Inventory management

  • Willing / able to work 12-hour shifts

  • Microsoft Excel / Outlook / Word

  • Excellent communication skills

  • FMCG / Manufacturing industry experience

  • Basic leadership experience

  • Beneficial:

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification

  • CPIM / CSCP / CPSM Certification

  • Forklift License
