ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES                    

  • Engages with pharmacy staff to learn pharmacy processes, Federal and State rules and regulations of the practice of pharmacy
  • Fills, labels, processes, and records doctor ordered prescriptions for patients.
  • Answers incoming telephone calls and responds to customer and long-term care staff requests.
  • Packages products and prepares them for delivery to nursing centers.
  • Manages pharmaceutical stock levels; restocks and replenishes supplies; conducts inventories in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintains pharmaceutical related records, files, and patient profiles.
  • Complies with all HIPAA policies specifically relating to patient confidentiality and release of information; maintains strict confidentiality on all client information; attends staff in-services and training.   
  • Promotes the image and reputation of the System by exhibiting servant leadership and providing direct and open lines of communication.
  • Contributes to the work of committees, workgroups, project management, and other collaborative efforts of the System.
  • Performs other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the System

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Introductory knowledge of pharmacy practice and pharmacy technician role and responsibilities, typically gained through educational courses
  • Ability to read and interpret written instructions.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks with sustained attention and care.
  • Must be able to demonstrate typing or computer terminal use proficiency.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and present information in a clear and concise manner, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow associates, administrators, patients and families, and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently enrolled as a High School student seeking a diploma or equivalent
  • Age 17 years of age or older
  • Preferably enrolled in classes pertaining to pharmacy technician training program

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

None

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format.  The ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
