Description

BE THE ART EXPERT WHERE THE PRINTING HAPPENS.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Great screenprint work depends on having the right art support at the right moment. As a Floor Support Production Artist at our Detroit Lakes headquarters, you will be the art resource closest to the press. You will respond to production questions, study the approved artwork and order details, and make precise file corrections that help the team continue printing with confidence.

This role is built for someone who likes variety, urgency, and visible results. You may send screens to the Burn Room, review a pellon or comp against a work order, correct a namedrop, rebuild an underlay, adjust a mesh count or ink rotation, and document an error for follow-up. Because Detroit Lakes supports a large mix of resort and collegiate screenprint work, you will move between priorities while keeping accuracy and communication front and center.

This full-time position works onsite at Lakeshirts headquarters in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Floor Support must be present with Production, so remote work is not available.

A TYPICAL DAY | Troubleshoot + Correct + Verify + Communicate

  • Work alongside the Detroit Lakes screenprint floor as the first art contact for active production questions.
  • Review the work order, job notes, comp, pellon, namedrops, production file, and screen information to locate the source of an issue.
  • Correct spelling, text, color, placement, sizing, underlays, gradients, blends, mesh counts, and ink rotations in Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
  • Prepare corrected files, send screens to the Burn Room, and complete reburn requests with the information Production needs.
  • Confirm that revised artwork matches customer-approved references before the order returns to production.
  • Support resort and collegiate screenprint orders, including specialty setups and production art fixes that require quick judgment.
  • Communicate with Production, Quality Control, artists, and leads so everyone understands the correction and next step.
  • Log art errors by department and flag unclear or conflicting standards for lead review.
  • Keep several active floor requests organized, update teammates on progress, and close the loop on each issue.
  • Look for repeat problems and suggest practical changes that reduce rework, waiting, and material waste.
  • Complete additional production art work as priorities allow.

SKILLS | Adobe + Prepress + Accuracy + Practical Problem Solving

  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is required; working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is strongly preferred.
  • Graphic Design degree preferred, or equivalent education, portfolio work, or hands-on production art experience.
  • Experience with production art, prepress, screenprint, print production, apparel decoration, or manufacturing is helpful.
  • Ability to inspect digital artwork carefully and recognize issues involving spelling, color, sizing, placement, file setup, and print quality.
  • Comfort using computers, shared files, work-order systems, and digital workflow tools throughout the day.
  • Strong organization and follow-through when priorities shift or several requests arrive at once.
  • Clear, respectful communication with artists, production team members, leads, and quality partners.
