The Role
We are looking for a Software Developer I to join our Asset Performance Management (APM) team in Bedford, Massachusetts. In this role, you will contribute to the development of next-generation predictive analytics solutions that help customers optimize asset maintenance and performance. You will work alongside experienced engineers to enhance existing products while contributing to the evolution of our platform toward a scalable, performant, service-oriented architecture.This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career software engineer to gain experience across the full technology stack, work with industry-standard development technologies, and contribute to innovative solutions that address real-world industrial challenges.
Your Impact
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of AspenTech's next-generation Asset Performance Management solutions.
- Contribute to software development across the full technology stack, including web applications, REST APIs, services, backend components, and databases.
- Collaborate with software developers, product managers, UX designers, and quality engineers to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to maintaining high standards for software quality, performance, and maintainability.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects while supporting existing commercial products.
- Design and implement new features following established software development practices and architectural guidelines.
- Write and maintain unit tests and integration tests to help ensure application reliability and quality.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum and SAFe development processes, including sprint planning, daily standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement.
- Support CI/CD initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of development workflows and engineering practices.
- Explore and evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, and development tools through prototypes and proof-of-concept projects.
- Work with databases and data-intensive applications to support analytics and operational workflows.
- Knowledge of AI-assisted development tools and coding assistants, with exposure to applying them to improve developer productivity and software quality.
- Exposure to Quality Engineering (QE) practices, including test automation concepts, quality assurance methodologies, and automated testing frameworks.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
- 0-2 years of software development experience, including internships, co-op programs, academic projects, or equivalent experience.
- Exposure to development using C# and .NET technologies.
- Understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and software design concepts.
- Exposure to front-end development technologies including: Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3
- Familiarity with REST APIs, web services, and microservice-based architecture.
- Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts, including experience writing queries and working with databases such as SQL Server.
- Experience using source control systems such as Git.
- Exposure to unit testing and integration testing practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and tools such as Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of Agile/Scrum development methodologies and SAFe practices.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Enthusiasm for learning new technologies and expanding technical expertise.
