The Corporate Actions & Reference Data Analyst supports Capital Group’s investment process by managing the operational lifecycle of corporate action events and maintaining high-quality security master and reference data across global markets. The role helps ensure that securities positions, investment decisions, accounting records, valuations, compliance processes, regulatory reporting, and operational activities accurately reflect corporate action impacts and reliable reference data attributes.

This hybrid role serves as a subject matter expert across either Corporate Actions or Reference Data, with the ability and expectation to develop working knowledge across the complementary domain. The Analyst partners closely with the Investment Group, Trading, Compliance, Legal, Accounting, Valuation, Tax, Technology, custodians, market data vendors, and other Investment Operations teams to resolve issues, improve processing quality, and mitigate operational risk.

Role Summary
 

Demonstrates in-depth knowledge in Corporate Actions and/or Reference Data processes and applies sound judgment, business acumen, and operational expertise to research, analyze, assess, recommend, and implement solutions. The Analyst may serve as a primary reviewer of team deliverables, oversee more complex responsibilities, and act as a technical resource for other team members.

The role requires strong analytical capabilities, attention to detail, and the ability to manage complex and ambiguous situations across multiple stakeholders, systems, asset classes, and operational processes. The Analyst is expected to support day-to-day execution, exception management, stakeholder communication, risk mitigation, process improvement, and project-related activities.

Primary Responsibilities / Essential Functions

Corporate Actions Event Management

• Monitor, research, analyze, and process mandatory and voluntary corporate action events across global markets, including mergers, acquisitions, tender offers, rights issues, stock splits, spin-offs, reorganizations, conversions, redemptions, income distributions, and other security-related events.

• Review event notifications and information received from custodians, vendors, issuers, market agents, and other external sources to determine operational requirements and downstream impacts.

• Assess operational, accounting, valuation, reporting, tax, trading, and reference data impacts of corporate action events.

• Coordinate election responses, entitlement processing, event execution, and implementation within established deadlines.

• Analyze event alternatives and communicate available options to the Investment Group and Trading when investment decisions are required.

• Ensure investment decisions and corporate action outcomes are accurately reflected in operational systems and related data environments.
   

Reference Data & Security Master Management

• Support the setup and maintenance of new and existing securities, issuers, benchmarks, indices, investment vehicles, and related reference data across internal systems.

• Maintain security master records and reference data attributes for equity, fixed income, derivatives, and other securities and products.

• Review prospectuses, term sheets, offering documents, vendor feeds, exchange publications, and market documentation to determine appropriate setup and maintenance requirements.

• Manage key reference data attributes including issuer, country, currency, industry classification, exchange, settlement, market structure, identifiers, and other data elements required to support investment operations.

• Partner with Trading, the Investment Group, Compliance, Legal, and other stakeholders to ensure security setup and maintenance activities support operational, regulatory, and investment requirements.
   

Data Quality, Exception Management & Controls

• Investigate and resolve complex data quality issues, event discrepancies, control breaks, and exceptions across internal systems, custodians, vendors, and external market data sources.

• Monitor daily exception reports, reconciliation reports, and exception queues; coordinate corrective actions with appropriate stakeholders.

• Perform quality assurance reviews of reference data changes, corporate action processing, and related maintenance activities.

• Identify root causes of issues and recommend process improvements, control enhancements, and risk mitigation strategies.

• Escalate significant risks, operational concerns, service issues, and unresolved exceptions when appropriate.
   

Stakeholder Partnership & Business Support

• Act as a liaison between the Investment Group, Trading, custodians, vendors, operational teams, and Technology to ensure investment activities and data requirements are executed accurately.

• Provide guidance regarding corporate action event processing, security setup, asset eligibility, market identifiers, operational implications, and data governance standards.

• Respond to complex questions regarding event structures, processing requirements, reference data attributes, timing considerations, and downstream impacts.

• Build trusted relationships across Operations, Trading, Portfolio Management, Compliance, Legal, Accounting, Valuation, Tax, and Technology teams.
   

Project, Change & Strategic Responsibilities

• Participate in and may lead small to moderately sized projects supporting corporate actions processing, reference data platforms, data governance, system implementations, regulatory changes, and operational transformation initiatives.

• Partner with Technology and business stakeholders to define requirements, develop test plans and test scenarios, perform user acceptance testing, and support production readiness.

• Support implementation of new products, markets, systems, and capabilities affecting Corporate Actions and Reference Data processes.

• Contribute to strategic initiatives such as platform modernization, SIMPL, cloud migration, live IBOR, and other transformation efforts requiring corporate actions or reference data readiness.

• Identify opportunities to improve automation, straight-through processing, scalability, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.
   

Team Development & Knowledge Sharing

• Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert for Corporate Actions and/or Reference Data processes.

• Review work completed by others and provide guidance to support quality, consistency, and development.

• Train, coach, and support associates on operational processes, event structures, reference data standards, controls, and risk management practices.

• Contribute to training materials, onboarding support, and a collaborative, inclusive, continuous improvement-oriented team culture.

• 5 to 10 years of experience in either Corporate Actions, and/or Reference Data

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to research complex issues and develop practical solutions.

• Strong understanding of securities markets, investment products, investment operations, and operational control environments.

• Demonstrated ability to work with complex financial instrument documentation, corporate action event information, vendor data, market publications, and operational system outputs.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, accuracy, timeliness, and risk mitigation.

• Ability to assess ambiguous or high-impact situations, identify root causes, and recommend effective controls or process improvements.

• Strong stakeholder management, relationship-building, written communication, and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to manage competing priorities, deadlines, exception volumes, and high-risk operational activities in a fast-paced environment.

• Demonstrated capability to train, coach, review work, and support the development of others.

• Continuous improvement mindset with a focus on automation, scalability, operational efficiency, and risk reduction.

• Excels in team settings by fostering collaboration, demonstrating the ability to lead, support peers, ask insightful questions, and contribute ideas that help drive outcomes.

Preferred Experience / Knowledge

• Experience in Corporate Actions event management, including mandatory and voluntary events, event elections, entitlement processing, market deadlines, and downstream operational impacts.

• Experience in Reference Data, Security Master, asset setup, market data attributes, identifier management, vendor data, or data governance.

• Working knowledge of equity, fixed income, fund, derivative, and alternative investment products.

• Experience partnering with custodians, vendors, issuers, exchanges, market utilities, Technology teams, and internal investment or operational stakeholders.

• Experience supporting testing, operational readiness, system enhancements, regulatory change, vendor oversight, or transformation initiatives.

• Working knowledge of Bloomberg Terminal and related data products, with experience researching securities, issuer data, and corporate action events. 

• Demonstrates working knowledge of Excel (VBA & Macros a plus), Microsoft, and other business applications and the ability to apply them to work assignments.

• Demonstrates working knowledge of accounting, including business operations, financial reporting and generally accepted accounting principles, and ability to apply it to work assignments.

In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital’s annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
