Responsibilities
Job Summary:
An hourly garnishment specialist reviews legal withholding orders, calculates precise employee wage deductions, and ensures timely agency remittances. They maintain compliance with federal and state laws while serving as a primary contact for employee and court inquiries on behalf of HHS.
Job Responsibilities:
Order Processing: Review, interpret, and set up new court orders, child support, tax levies, and creditor claims into the payroll system. Remit payments to ensure accurate and timely transfer of funds to courts, agencies, and creditors.
Compliance Management: Ensure all calculations strictly follow federal, state, and local withholding limits and timelines.
Communication: Verbal and written communication, answering inquiries and providing customer support to employees, courts, legal teams, and government agencies.
Dispute Resolution: Investigate calculation errors, fix automation failures, submit garnishment refunds for processing, and adjust future deductions.
Requirements:
Experience: 2 to 3 years working in payroll or specialized garnishment processing.
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Workday, and Google products like Gmail, Google Drive, and Google Sheets.
Core Traits: High attention to detail, strict data confidentiality, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a team environment.
Preferred Skills or Qualifications:
Certifications: Fundamentals of Payroll (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) are a plus.
