THE OPPORTUNITY – INSTRUMENT PREPARATOR  

 

The Instrument Preparator acts as the onshore discipline technical expert supporting the E&I Maintenance Team Lead to ensure safe and cost-effective maintenance and responsive breakdown maintenance of plant and equipment.

 

Duration: Core role required until Cease of Plant Production (est 2028)

Location: Barrow Gas Terminal

Rotation/Hours: 9-Day fortnight, 9 hours paid per day

Rate: Please advise rate expectations upon submission

Holidays: 33 paid per annum

Please be aware that travel/accommodation is not covered

Overtime and on call payment in addition.

 

AND NOW FOR THE TECHNICAL BIT…

In role, you will be accountable for:

 

• Working as part of the onshore maintenance team, this role is key to ensuring the day to day operation of maintenance activities. This role has significant input into the development of work scopes within their area and ensures that expenditure is controlled according to budget, liaising with E & I Maintenance Team Leader to ensure that all activities are undertaken in a co-ordinated and effective manner.
• Acting as an interface with Aberdeen and offshore on technical issues and coordinating the services of technical specialists, service contractors and vendor personnel to effectively maintain facilities whilst minimising support costs.
• Reporting directly to the E&I Maintenance Team Leader, the Preparator is responsible for the preparation of work activities for a team of technicians in line with the terminal planning and control of work processes. They will also be responsible for the execution of such work as directed by the E&I Maintenance Team Leader.
• Required to provide cover for the E&I Maintenance Team Lead when necessary.
• Understand the health, safety, environmental and associated legal requirements that are relevant to the job role and ensure the team’s compliance with these. Help the team to understand and actively promote issues regarding health, safety and the environment.

• Conducts all activities in a safe and effective manner and raises safety and environmental issues immediately and in line with corporate policy.

 

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have:

 

• A BTECH or ONC in an engineering subject as a minimum is essential to provide the underpinning knowledge in dealing with the technical issues that arise.
• Knowledge of production/maintenance operations gained through experience of working in the oil and gas industry.
• Team leader skills, underpinned by supervisory experience.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of engineering principles and practical application
• Ability to work in a fast moving, customer focused environment whilst maintaining the highest ethical integrity.

• CompEx 11 Mechanical Competence ATEX
• MJI10 Stage 1 Initial Training – Hand Torque Bolted Connections
• TMJI10 Stage 2 - Hand Torque Bolted Connections
• MJI19 Stage 1 training– Dismantle, Assemble and hydraulically torque flanged joints
• SBT01 Stage 1 - Assemble and Install Small Bore Tubing Assemblies – Twin Ferrule
