Title: Coordinator, Community Engagement
Reports to: Associate Director, Family & Community Support
Department: Family & Community Support

Primary Purpose
The Coordinator, Community Engagement role provides an opportunity to be part of an exciting and vibrant community of adoptive families and adopted persons.  This individual will have administrative as well as client-facing duties working with adopted persons and adoptive families within their role in this department.  The ideal candidate will support the Associate Director and Manager within the department, is detail-oriented and can communicate with, engage, and support a diverse population of local, national and global families.  This individual possesses excellent program coordination and planning skills with an enthusiasm to connect with our diverse adoption community. 

The Coordinator plays a central role in the development, advancement, planning and execution of community programming.  The ideal team member will coordinate and implement work plans; engage and educate groups, and carefully monitor program activities to ensure growth, quality and outcomes.  This person will also coordinate with marketing and outreach to make sure the events are advertised and reach their intended community.  Occasional evening and weekend work required.  This is a full-time, in-person position with an annual salary range of $60,000-$65,000.

Key Performance Indicators
  • Facilitate and support community programming collaborating with Associate Director on outreach and onboarding to hosting activities and gathering feedback
    • Facilitate Mentorship programming, including recruitment and training of mentors, outreach for and screening of mentees, planning all program activities
  • Complete administrative roles associated with community programming along with Associate Director
  • Assist Associate Director with planning a yearly calendar of events for community events
  • including Mentorship, children and family playgroups, virtual groups and others as needed
  • Support program development, operations and facilitation, including coordinating and providing logistical/setup for community events, monitoring expenses, and maintaining accurate up-to-date information
  • Ensure electronic and physical files are maintained for clients and program events
  • Represent Spence-Chapin when needed at conferences, community events and with partners
  • Outreach and relationship building to expand network of partner organizations
  • Provide additional assistance as requested and/or as appropriate, to ensure the ongoing success of community programming services at the organization
  • Represent Spence-Chapin, when necessary, at conferences, community events, and with partners
  • Perform any other departmental or agency-related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor
Education & Experiences
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 2-3 years of relevant program, administrative or project planning experience
  • Experience in an administrative support role required
  • Experience in working with sensitive populations, particularly children and families preferred
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural diversity and cross-cultural issues
  • Bilingual candidates a plus
  • Must have personal, lived experience in the adoption or foster care system
Technical Skills
  • MS Office -Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience with database platforms
  • Basic knowledge of Canva
Key Competencies
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Add something about being able to engage tweens and teens
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills with ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task; strong execution skills thorough follow through and attention to detail
  • Problem-solving mindset with customer-service focus
  • Saturday for program events and occasional evening work necessary
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with various departments, which supports both individual and cooperative work
