Description

Harrison Steel Castings Co. has an opening for a second shift Maintenance Supervisor. Responsibilities include supervising and coordinating activities of Maintenance Mechanics with the intent of providing safe, dependable, productive equipment by performing the following duties.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Writes work orders and assigns work to be done.

 

Prioritizes the work to be done in such a manner that keeps production on schedule and minimizes down time.

 

Determines the extent of the work to be done and determines when to repair or replace parts to keep the equipment operating so downtime is held to a minimum.

 

Conducts safety meetings, assuring that safety procedures and policies are understood and followed.

 

Inspects quality, completion of work and cleanup at all job sites.

 

Keeps records of hourly attendance and conducts employee evaluations.

 

Assists in employee performance evaluations.

 

Assists in the maintenance of production and operation equipment.

 

Follows job work instructions.

Training Requirements:

Basic supervisor training.

 

All HS safety programs.

 

Must have ability to read and understand electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and plumbing schematics.

Education/Experience:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Math Ability:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Addition training will be provided as needed.

 

Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver's license.

 

Fork truck license.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Directly supervises several employees in the Maintenance/Engineering department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places; extreme heat (non-weather) and risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; outdoor weather conditions; risk of radiation and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Color vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
