The multimedia developer is an energetic, detail-oriented, creative storyteller who works collaboratively with the marketing and communications team at The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences to plan, storyboard, shoot, edit and launch content for recruitment, retention, development and alumni engagement purposes. This position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to, delivering impactful videos, photography, motion graphics, with plenty of opportunity to learn. This position will manage and maintain the Armstrong Hall studio, a versatile space that is vital to multimedia needs across The College. You will be able to take on new challenges and evolve as an artist and marketer.
From interviewing to creating engaging scripts that connect with multiple audiences, the multimedia developer will work closely and collaboratively with the Dean’s Office, academic units and centers to implement and support ASU’s enterprise communications initiatives. This role will maintain a flexible work schedule in order to accommodate occasional evening and weekend shifts and to travel to on-site locations for filming.
Salary Range: $65,000 to $68,100; DOE
Essential Duties:
Create new videos through storyboarding, shooting, editing and color correcting video
Be able to use various video, audio, and lighting equipment to achieve desired results
Maintains archival system for video/photo assets
Repurpose existing video and audio into unique stories using archived video footage
Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations
Tests all equipment to determine technical quality of recording, audio and lighting apparatus prior to operation in the field.
Oversees the security, operation and maintenance of equipment utilized in shooting and editing.
Maintain the health and structure of external hard drives, while backing up content to cloud based systems.
Reports to the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications on other duties such as captioning, subscribing and scheduling.
Interacts with and interviews ASU student body, faculty, staff, alumni, donors and community members, and is responsible for exhibiting a professional and friendly presence as representatives of ASU.
Document quotes and provide transcripts to team members for news, marketing or recruitment purposes
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Meet and collaborate with team members to establish project goals
Uses Canon Mirrorless cameras to capture still photography
Manages The Colleges YouTube page and reports out the success of content.
Assists in podcast recording, editing and production tasks as directed
Ability to produce high quality projects as well as turn quick social first vertical video.
Desired Qualifications:
Intermediate to advanced experience with operating mirrorless cameras(2) and using other production related gear, including tripods, lighting, portable audio recorders, hard drives and other production related equipment
Intermediate skill in post-production editing using Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop and Lightroom)
Ability to provide creative ideas to put together text, images and sound to achieve desired results; understands targeted audience needs /requirements.
Ability to plan, implement and produce media tasks as assigned.
Experience leading the development of video projects.
Ability to execute end-to-end multimedia production independently
Has a collaborative style and desire to work in a team-based environment.
Experience conducting interviews.
Problem solver who can take initiative and set priorities while being flexible
Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications.
Experience using client relationship skills, being self-directed and in taking initiatives to completion
Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and see work through to completion, meeting deadlines and working under pressure
Ability to work some evenings, early mornings and weekends to accommodate meetings and events
Knowledge of Dropbox, Google Drive, Slack and Outlook
Ability to quickly learn new software programs, production techniques and apply as needed
Ability to work in Macintosh computer environments
Working Environment:
A willingness to hold flexible hours to attend events for photo and video production.
This position is located on ASU’s Tempe campus, with an opportunity to work remote two days after onboarding and training.
Frequently bend, reach, lift, push and pull up to 25 pounds.
Communicate professionally to perform essential duties.
Activities on location may occur in interior or exterior settings.
Use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop • (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, video/audio editing/mixing equipment; handheld video and photo equipment.
