The Job
As a Junior Packaging Engineer, you support in the development, creation, and execution of packaging designs that are functional, cost effective and in line with the project brief. You contribute to the design and development phase while assisting with making the packaging production-ready within the set deadlines in regards of quality, construction, price, sustainability, brand identity and compliance requirements. You collaborate with your teammates within the packaging department in developing and executing packaging concepts and artworks.Your Mission
- You support the process of designing and developing new packaging concepts based on a project brief, as well as adapting existing packaging to new needs, sizes, and forms. Packaging needs to be entirely correct across various versions and complete in its functional development steps, quality, construction, and target price needs to meet product, stichd & market standards.
- Any packaging development needs to be compatible with the product, therefore you will work closely together with internal teams to evaluate packaging requirements at all developmental phases. In addition, it is important you have a full understanding of how the product and packaging interact, as you will create digital representations of this for packaging production.
- You are able to meet deadlines and be efficient while working several simultaneous projects/tasks.
- You research market, consumer and industry trends and prepare mood boards during the concept and design phase. This requires carrying out in-depth investigations into the latest trends, pricing architectures, and any potential obstacles that may come up during the testing stage.
- You create overviews and presentations in coordination with other members of the packaging team in order to present new work or information across the organization and/or to certain stakeholders.
- You are responsible for accurately using and maintaining the order of the server where all packaging files are stored, as well as adhering to standards such as file naming conventions, export specifications, and change logs.
- You work closely within the process of print production and must possess the relevant knowledge in relation to materials, dielines, color systems and accuracy, etc.
- You are able to manage the tasks delegated to you independently and within the time frame necessary, while utilizing the support and help of the wider packaging team when needed.
- You take on other occurring relevant activities and/or projects.
Your Talent
- You have a minimum Bachelor education level in Graphic, Packaging or Industrial Design;
- You have some work experience (internship, 1 year) in a similar position or in graphic design related position, preferably in international organization working with global brands;
- High proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; Technical ability to think and construct in 3D , structured, brand & product understanding, eye for details;
- You are fluent in English;
- Enthusiast and ready to learn from experience;
- Hands on approach;
- Open and positive mindset.
This role is based in Den Bosch, the Netherlands. Working remotely from other countries is not possible.
