Description
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. - 5:00 P.M. A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
Ability to do a variety of skilled maintenance work.
Considerable knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in a building trade such as HVAC maintenance.
Working knowledge of one or more additional trades.
Ability to work from plans and specifications.
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees.
Knowledgeable of HVAC vocabulary, the ability to read and interpret mechanical and structural blueprints, and plan HVAC repairs and modifications.
Ability to read blueprints and sketches related to construction projects in order to assist in the preparation of materials estimates.
Must have ability to perform simple to complex movements requiring moderate coordination.
Must have visual perception and ability to discriminate colors.
Must be able to perceive and discriminate odors/sounds.
Must be able to perform manual labor for extended periods of time as required by work assignments.
A valid N.C. driver's license is required.
Must have demonstrated ability to perform semi-skilled to skilled maintenance work in one or more trades ormaintenance work including operation of various equipment and/or tools.
A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check
The essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Maintains and repairs general HVAC components.
Completes routine troubleshooting on residential HVAC units to include checking for proper supply voltage, checking fuses, belts, dirty coils, rotation of equipment.
Completes repairs/replacements to residential HVAC components to include fan motors, compressors, capacitors, pump couplings, and belts.
Adjusts and calibrates pneumatic thermostats.
Performs routine preventative maintenance of HVAC system components.
Navigates various Building Automation systems.
Completes daily work orders which include but are not limited to performing preventive maintenance and corrective work on HVAC systems, as well as escorting outside contractors doing work at Forsyth County facilities.
Participates or assist in special projects, such as rebuilding pumps or changing compressor as well as after-hours preventive maintenance projects.
Assists Skilled Trades Specialists in completing tasks and responsibilities.
Performs related work as required.
