Private Family Caregiver – Evening Shift

Location: Oak Cliff – Dallas, TX, Near Methodist Dallas Medical Center
Schedule: Monday–Saturday | 4:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week
Optional Private Bedroom & Bathroom Available for the Right Candidate

We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and experienced Private Family Caregiver to provide evening care for a mother and adult daughter in their private Oak Cliff residence, located approximately one block from Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

This is a consistent, long-term position with a set evening schedule. The family already has a daytime caregiver in place, so this position is specifically focused on evening care, preparing dinner, personal care, and helping both family members comfortably transition into their nighttime routine.

We are looking for someone who wants more than occasional caregiving shifts. Our goal is to find a trustworthy and dependable caregiver who can become a valued, long-term part of the family's care team.

The household includes:

  • A 90-year-old mother who is active, independent, still drives, and generally in good health.
  • Her 68-year-old daughter, who has a long-term brainstem injury, uses a wheelchair, and requires assistance with personal care and activities of daily living.

A caregiver is already present during the daytime. This position is for evening care only.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The caregiver's primary responsibility is to make sure both individuals are comfortable, cared for, and safely settled for the evening.

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing and cooking dinner each evening
  • Assisting with bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
  • Providing wheelchair and mobility assistance
  • Assisting with transfers and positioning as needed
  • Helping with evening and bedtime routines
  • Providing medication reminders as appropriate
  • Providing companionship and general supervision
  • Light kitchen cleanup after preparing dinner
  • Light housekeeping related to caregiving activities
  • Maintaining a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment
  • Communicating important information or concerns to the family and daytime caregiver

The right person will be kind, patient, dependable, attentive, and comfortable providing hands-on care.

Requirements

  • Previous caregiving, CNA, home-health aide, personal-care attendant, or similar experience
  • Experience caring for seniors and/or adults with disabilities
  • Experience assisting individuals who use a wheelchair
  • Comfortable providing hands-on personal care, including bathing
  • Able to lift and assist with bathroom duties
  • Able to safely assist with mobility and transfers
  • Able and willing to cook and prepare dinner
  • Dependable and able to consistently work the scheduled hours
  • Reliable transportation
  • Strong communication skills
  • Professional and/or caregiving references
  • Ability to successfully complete applicable background screening
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred

SCHEDULE

Monday through Saturday
4:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.
Approximately 36 hours per week

Applicants should be able to consistently work the full schedule. Dependability and attendance are extremely important.

OPTIONAL LIVE-IN ARRANGEMENT

For the right long-term candidate, the family may also consider an optional live-in arrangement. The residence has a private upstairs bedroom and bathroom that could be made available to the caregiver. If mutually beneficial, housing may be incorporated into the overall compensation arrangement.

L

iving in the residence is not required. Candidates who already have their own housing are equally encouraged to apply.

Any live-in arrangement would be discussed separately with the selected candidate, including compensation, housing terms, privacy, work hours, and expectations.

Living in the home would not mean being on duty 24 hours a day. The caregiver's regular work schedule would remain Monday through Saturday, 4:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m., unless additional hours were separately discussed and agreed upon.

This is an opportunity to work with one family in one private residence rather than traveling throughout the day between multiple clients.

You'll have:

  • A consistent 36-hour weekly schedule
  • An established daytime caregiver to provide continuity of care
  • A private-home environment
  • A convenient Oak Cliff location approximately one block from Methodist Dallas Medical Center
  • The potential for an optional private bedroom and bathroom
  • An opportunity to develop a stable, long-term relationship with the family

We value caregivers who take pride in their work and understand the importance of patience, dignity, reliability, and compassionate care.

If you are an experienced caregiver who enjoys helping others and are looking for a stable, long-term evening position with one family, we would like to hear from you.
