Overview
The Infusion Clinical Specialist is a hybrid role responsible for providing direct patient care, clinical education, and care coordination across Amerita’s home and alternate site infusion services.
This position combines hands-on nursing care with patient and provider education to support safe therapy initiation, patient readiness, and continuity of care. The role partners closely with Nursing, Pharmacy, and Sales teams to improve patient outcomes, enhance referral confidence, and support efficient care delivery. serves as a clinical education and training expert supporting successful patient transitions to Amerita’s home and alternate-site infusion care delivery models. This role provides education, training, and clinical guidance to patients, caregivers, referral sources, and internal teams to ensure safe therapy initiation, patient independence, and continuity of care.

Responsibilities
- Provides skilled nursing care in accordance with Amerita policies, state regulations, INS standards, and CDC guidelines
- Assesses patients and develops, implements, and evaluates the plan of care
- Performs infusion therapy, including management of vascular access devices (as certified)
- Supports therapy initiation including start of care visits, patient teaching, and acute clinical needs
- Educates patients and caregivers on infusion therapies, medications, and device management
- Monitors patient response to therapy and communicates changes to the physician and care team
- Coordinates care with pharmacy, providers, and other healthcare professionals
- Maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation
- Supports continuity of care during staffing needs, high census, or complex patient cases
- Participates in on-call rotation as required
- Provides clinical education to patients, caregivers, referral sources, and facility staff
- Conducts in-services, continuing education programs, and therapy-specific training sessions
- Partners with sales team members during customer engagements to provide clinical expertise
- Supports referral development by improving clinical understanding of home infusion services
- Assists with hospital-based education and discharge planning activities
- Identifies and addresses clinical barriers that may delay therapy initiation or impact patient care
- Coordinate patient transitions from hospital to home or alternate infusion settings
- Assesses patient readiness for discharge and therapy initiation
- Ensures completion of education, supplies, and clinical requirements prior to discharge
- Collaborates with intake, pharmacy, nursing, and sales teams to support timely start of care
- Supports rapid-start and priority therapy programs as applicable
- Acts as a liaison between pharmacy, sales, nursing, and operations teams to ensure consistent clinical messaging and best practices
- Promotes standardization of clinical education and best practices
- Supports onboarding and competency development of clinical and sales team members
- Provides feedback on workflow gaps impacting patient care, transitions, and service delivery
- Maintains confidentiality of patient and proprietary information in accordance with HIPAA and company standards
- Ensures all clinical and educational activities comply with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational requirements
- Maintains accurate documentation of clinical care, education, competency, and transition activities
- Supports data collection and reporting related to patient education and therapy transition outcomes
- Demonstrates professional collaboration and customer-focused service with patients, referral partners, and internal teams
- Supervisory Responsibility: No
Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license required; BSN preferred
- Active RN license in state of practice required
- Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience; infusion therapy or specialty pharmacy experience strongly preferred
- Experience in adult education, clinical training, or healthcare education preferred
- Previous experience supporting sales or business development initiatives preferred
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance required
- Active RN license in assigned state
- Must meet company driving standards
- Current CPR certification required
- Strong clinical expertise in infusion therapy and patient education
- Ability to translate complex clinical concepts into clear, actionable education for patients and non-clinical audiences
- Excellent communication, presentation, and teaching skills
- Strong collaboration and cross-functional communication abilities
- Organizational and time-management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with CRM or clinical documentation platforms preferred.
- Percentage of Travel: 100% to patient homes, healthcare facilities and referral sources
**To perform this role will require sitting, standing, walking and typing on a keyboard with fingers, and occasionally bending, reaching, climbing (stairs/ladders), kneeling, crouching, and stooping. The physical requirements will be the ability to push/pull and lift/carry 1-10 lbs**
