Position Summary

Palm House is seeking a Seasonal Public Area Attendant to maintain immaculate, inviting, and thoughtfully presented public spaces throughout the hotel. This role helps create a lasting impression by ensuring that guest-facing areas and designated employee spaces remain clean, comfortable, and ready for use.

The ideal candidate is dependable, attentive to detail, and takes pride in caring for every space. From refreshing public restrooms to maintaining a polished lobby, the Public Area Attendant contributes to the comfort and care that define the Palm House experience.

This position is seasonal, with employment anticipated from October through May. Employment is expected to conclude at the end of the seasonal period.

Key Responsibilities

Public Area Cleanliness & Presentation

• Clean and maintain assigned areas, including lobbies, corridors, elevators, stairwells, public restrooms, and designated employee areas.
• Dust and wipe furnishings, fixtures, and surfaces using approved products and methods.
• Vacuum carpets, sweep and mop floors, and assist with scheduled floor-care tasks.
• Clean mirrors, glass, and other designated surfaces to maintain a polished appearance.
• Clean and sanitize public restrooms, replenish supplies, and complete regular inspections throughout the shift.
• Empty trash and recycling receptacles and transport materials to designated disposal areas.
• Respond promptly to spills and cleaning needs, placing appropriate safety signage to protect guests and colleagues.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects and other assigned housekeeping tasks.

Guest Service & Privacy

• Greet guests warmly and maintain a courteous, professional presence.
• Perform cleaning tasks thoughtfully around guest activity to minimize disruption.
• Respond to guest requests within the role’s responsibilities and refer additional needs to the appropriate team member.
• Respect guest privacy, personal belongings, and confidential information.
• Follow lost-and-found procedures and promptly turn in items discovered while working.

Organization & Property Care

• Keep cleaning carts, equipment, storage closets, and service areas clean, organized, and stocked.
• Report maintenance needs, damaged furnishings, supply shortages, and safety hazards promptly.
• Handle hotel furnishings, equipment, and supplies carefully to prevent damage.
• Follow cleaning schedules and communicate completed tasks and outstanding needs to Housekeeping leadership.
• Support responsible use of water, cleaning products, and supplies.

Safety & Teamwork

• Follow approved procedures for cleaning chemicals, equipment use, safe lifting, and personal protective equipment.
• Use the correct cleaning products and methods for each surface.
• Maintain clear walkways and follow procedures for wet floors and other hazards.
• Work collaboratively with Housekeeping, Engineering, Front Office, and other departments.
• Participate in training and uphold Palm House cleanliness, grooming, presentation, and service standards.

Job Requirements

• Previous housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience in a hotel or luxury hospitality environment preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and guest service.
• Ability to follow instructions and safely use cleaning products and equipment.
• Ability to organize assigned tasks and maintain consistent quality throughout the shift.
• Ability to communicate guest requests, maintenance needs, and safety concerns clearly.
• Dependable, professional, and able to work independently and collaboratively.
• Availability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays during the October–May seasonal period.
• Ability to perform the essential duties of the role, including prolonged standing and walking; frequent bending, reaching, and kneeling; pushing supply carts; and lifting or carrying cleaning equipment and supplies, with or without reasonable accommodation.
