Job Description:
Better and fairer care. Always.
At St Vincent’s, we are shaping a better and fairer health and aged care system, supporting people with life-changing care, wherever and whoever they are. Inspired by the enduring legacy of the Sisters of Charity and their Founder Mary Aikenhead, we bring together compassionate care, clinical excellence and innovation to improve the lives of the communities we serve.
To support this vision, we are seeking a Clinical Safety and Quality Lead to strengthen clinical governance and support the safe growth of our Care at Home services, helping more people receive high-quality care beyond traditional hospital settings.
The Opportunity
You will provide essential safety and quality support across our growing Care at Home portfolio, helping strengthen clinical governance across existing services whilst also supporting the safe expansion of care beyond traditional hospital settings.
Working closely with operational leaders, clinicians, program teams and subject matter experts, you will help ensure new and existing services are supported by clear clinical documentation, effective risk management and strong governance foundations.
Your work will directly support our Bringing Care Home strategy, translating clinical, regulatory and operational requirements into practical policies, procedures, pathways and tools. You will also contribute to incident reviews, accreditation readiness, assurance and continuous improvement, helping services remain safe, effective and sustainable as they evolve.
This fixed-term opportunity is available until June 2027, with the possibility of extension and can be based in either of our group offices in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development, review and implementation of clinical and operational policies, procedures, guidelines, pathways and supporting tools for new and existing services.
- Facilitate workshops and consultation with clinicians and subject matter experts to develop practical, evidence-based documentation.
- Coordinate documentation approval, implementation and ongoing review, addressing gaps and inconsistencies to improve usability and standardisation.
- Support clinical governance requirements across new and existing services, embedding safety, quality and risk considerations into service development and change.
- Review incidents for quality, completeness and appropriate escalation, coordinating review activities with relevant teams and partner hospitals.
- Contribute to incident investigations, audits, risk assessments and assurance activities, monitoring improvement actions through to completion.
- Support accreditation readiness, compliance reviews and corrective actions across applicable healthcare, aged care and digital mental health standards.
- Prepare reports, committee papers and assurance information to support governance oversight and informed decision-making.
- Build staff capability through education and practical guidance, promoting a safe, inclusive and just culture and meaningful consumer involvement.
About You:
You are a collaborative healthcare, aged care or community services professional with experience supporting safety, quality and continuous improvement. You bring strong written communication skills and enjoy turning complex requirements into clear, practical guidance that supports better care.
You are organised, adaptable and confident working with multidisciplinary teams, balancing competing priorities as services grow and change.
You will bring:
- An undergraduate or diploma qualification in healthcare, community services or aged care.
- Demonstrated experience supporting quality and safety activities within a healthcare, aged care or community services environment.
- Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear documentation, reports and supporting resources.
- Experience engaging stakeholders and subject matter experts in quality improvement activities.
- Proven organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple documentation, governance and improvement projects while meeting agreed timeframes.
- A practical, collaborative approach and a commitment to safe, person-centred care.
Experience developing and reviewing clinical policies, procedures, guidelines or pathways will be highly regarded. Current AHPRA registration or eligibility for registration with the Australian Association of Social Workers, and completed or ongoing qualifications in quality or improvement sciences, are desirable.
Things that work for you:
- Help ashape the safety and quality foundations of St Vincent’s innovative strategy, growing our home, community and virtual healthcare services.
- Meaningful work supporting better care experiences and outcomes for patients and communities.
- An inclusive, purpose-led organisation guided by Compassion, Justice, Integrity and Excellence.
- Access to professional development and career pathways across our national health and aged care network.
- Not-for-profit salary packaging options, including meal entertainment packaging.
- Employee benefits and wellbeing support, including access to an Employee Assistance Program and discounted gym memberships.
- The opportunity to collaborate with clinical and operational teams across the widers St Vincent’s Health Australia network.
Pre-Employment Checks
Your employment is conditional upon completion of all required pre-employment checks, including reference, identity, right-to-work, Nationally Coordinated Criminal History and Working with Children checks, and compliance with the St Vincent’s Health Australia Immunisation Policy.
