Description
Your Opportunity
Every quarter, Urban Utilities bills 645,000 customers. Those bills depend on accurate meter data. As a Meter Validation Officer, you make sure it is right. You will report to the Senior Contract Management Officer and join a team working toward shared KPIs for metering across a network of more than 550,000 water meters.
You will inspect water meters in the field, confirm the details match what is recorded on the account, and chase down reading anomalies before they turn into billing disputes. You will also help customers read their meters and spot potential leaks and advise Customer Delivery Officers on complex residential and commercial accounts.
What You’ll Deliver
- Carry out field inspections and record the results accurately in the billing system (eg. HansenCIS)
- Check that meter details on completed inspections are correct and flag anomalies
- Handle complex customer cases and enquiries, giving clear technical advice on site
- Identify the right corrective action and update account information so bills are accurate
- Spot trends in the data and suggest improvements to systems and processes
- Work within Urban Utilities policies, regulatory codes and approval requirements.
About You
- Proven customer service skills, with the ability to actively listen, negotiate outcomes, manage challenging conversations and resolve conflict in a calm and professional manner
- Confident using technology in the field, including tablets and common business applications such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, internal billing systems and spreadsheets
- An understanding of, or ability to quickly develop knowledge of, relevant legislation relating to water, sewerage and power of entry, and how these requirements apply to business operations and field activities
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Clear written and verbal communication with customers and colleagues
- Adaptable and flexible, with the ability to work independently in the field for much of the time, while also working effectively as part of a collaborative team
- A current driver’s licence
