Who We Are
East Daley Analytics is a leading provider of North American energy infrastructure and commodity market insights. We combine proprietary data, rigorous analysis, and market expertise to help clients navigate investment decisions, M&A transactions, and commodity market opportunities.
Our mission is to move the market. We deliver insights that shape real decisions for influential leaders in energy and finance - with speed, rigor, and conviction. We value transparency, innovation, high standards, and a play-to-win mindset, while enjoying winning together.
The Opportunity
We are seeking a commercially minded and hands-on research leader to own and elevate our North American Liquids franchise. You will set the research agenda, lead and develop analysts, support product commercialization, drive market views, and turn those views into differentiated insights for clients making trading, investment, and infrastructure decisions. The focus is crude oil and NGL fundamentals; experience in refined products and downstream markets is highly valuable.
This is a high-visibility, client-facing research role. You will have support from analysts on data, models, and recurring deliverables, while remaining accountable for the conclusions and how they are communicated. We value initiative, intellectual independence, rigorous debate, speed, and the conviction to make a call - along with the humility to change it when the evidence does.
What You Will Own
Research strategy & market conviction
• Set a forward-looking research agenda for North American crude oil and NGL markets, connecting basin supply to gathering, processing, pipelines, storage, fractionation, refining, petrochemicals and exports.
• Build and challenge bottom-up forecasts, supply/demand balances, transportation and utilization models, and hub-price or differential outlooks; turn dislocations and infrastructure constraints into actionable investment and commercial implications.
• Form distinctive, evidence-based market views and take ownership of the analysis, assumptions, conclusions, and commercial narrative behind published research.
Team leadership & execution
• Lead and develop the analyst team: set clear priorities, raise analytical standards and forecast quality, strengthen commercial judgment and big-picture, cross-commodity thinking, provide candid feedback, and build capabilities for evolving customer and market needs.
• Structure the team effectively, develop cross-team efficiencies, and build succession depth.
• Establish repeatable quality assurance, model documentation, data lineage and version-control practices so EDA's work remains reliable and scalable. Improve the use of AI, Excel, Python, SQL and other analytical tools to automate recurring research, reconcile multiple datasets and strengthen forecast reproducibility.
Client impact & thought leadership
• Be a visible subject-matter expert: write compelling market commentary, lead client discussions, present at roadshows and webinars, and represent EDA at selected industry events.
• Partner with Commercial and Consulting to understand client questions, support strategic accounts, help defend and expand subscriptions, and identify high-value research or advisory opportunities.
• Translate complex physical-market dynamics into clear, direct conclusions for energy executives, traders, investors and other decision-makers.
Product commercialization & collaboration
• Set a customer-informed product development agenda as prioritized by customer demand, product gaps, competitive developments, advisory learnings and emerging needs across commodities.
• Support commercialization of products by translating complex internal analytics into differentiated customer use cases, compelling value propositions and clear commercial narratives that support customer decisions and demonstrate the value of
EDA’s insights
• Partner with Product, Data, Sales and Marketing on product & platform positioning, packaging, sales enablement and go-to-market execution to drive adoption, retention and revenue.
Requirements
What Success Looks Like in the First 6-12 Months
• A clear Liquids research and product development roadmap, an accountable and high-performing team, predictable delivery and stronger, documented and more scalable forecasts and workflows that clients and other EDA teams can rely on.
• A steady flow of differentiated, forward-looking insights grounded in EDA's proprietary data, rather than summaries of what the market already knows.
• Greater client engagement and market visibility, with clear examples of commercial success across research, product, and advisory work through improved customer retention, market expansion, or product adoption.
What You Bring
• Five plus years of relevant experience in crude oil, NGLs, refined products, midstream, trading, energy-market intelligence or fundamental research. We value the quality of experience and leadership potential over a rigid tenure threshold.
• Deep expertise in at least one liquids market, with the curiosity and systems-level understanding to connect it credibly to adjacent commodities, infrastructure and commercial outcomes.
• Demonstrated ability to lead people, mentor analysts and take ownership of complex research programs; formal management experience is valuable but not the only evidence of leadership.
• Strong quantitative judgment and practical proficiency in Excel, with experience using or directing workflows built in Python, SQL or equivalent data-analysis tools.
• Excellent analytical writing, presentation skills and the confidence to generate and defend a point of view with sophisticated clients while remaining open to challenge.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, geology, data science or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Experience that Stands Out
• Published research or speaking experience; a background with a trading firm, major, midstream company or energy research provider; and familiarity with asset-level data, tariffs, pipeline utilization, export economics, or proprietary forecasting products.
