Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Enterprise Chief Controls Office (ECCO) is seeking an Associate Director of Operational Resilience to join our First Line of Defense (1LOD) team and support the enterprise-wide operational resilience program. This is an exciting opportunity to drive strategic impact across RBC by developing and implementing resilience initiatives that elevate our control environment and organizational preparedness. You will lead reporting activities and analytics to assess the effectiveness of resilience programs, provide data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making, and facilitate scenario testing to evaluate organizational preparedness. Working in partnership with platform and business unit teams, you will help establish RBC as best in class with respect to organizational resilience and response to disruptions.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

·       Support the development and execution of the 1LOD Operational Resilience Lifecycle program, including executing key program components, coordinating implementation activities, and ensuring the program operates effectively across business segments.

·       Design and build SharePoint forms, surveys, and automated tracker reports to gather and consolidate operational resilience data and prepare comprehensive periodic reports for senior leadership and stakeholders.

·       Support monitoring of operational resiliency outcomes across the Bank by collecting, analyzing, and tracking operational resilience metrics and outcomes to provide data and insights for performance monitoring and reporting.

·       Maintain and support 1LOD procedural documents by assisting the Director in updating, managing, and distributing documentation while ensuring procedures remain current and accessible to stakeholders.

·       Execute operational resilience activities across businesses and functions globally by coordinating and driving resilience initiatives with business segments and functions to ensure consistent implementation of resilience practices across the organization.

·       Serve as a subject matter specialist in Operational Resilience within 1LOD by developing and maintaining expertise in operational resilience frameworks, best practices, and regulatory requirements while providing guidance to business leaders and colleagues.

·       Support training and capability-building on resiliency requirements by assisting in developing training content and delivery and conducting training sessions for 1LOD personnel.

·       Collaborate with stakeholders across businesses, technology, operations, and risk to ensure coordination and alignment of resilience initiatives.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

  • 7-10 years of experience with working knowledge of Operational Resilience or Non-Financial Risk, including exposure to 1LOD execution within financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint development and experience supporting enterprise monitoring, reporting, and metrics functions, including KRIs and resilience indicators.
  • Demonstrated capability to assist with resilience analyses, including Business Impact Analyses (BIAs), RTO validation, and scenario testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex resilience concepts clearly to diverse audiences including senior management and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and project management capabilities to support multi-year operational resilience and BCM uplift programs.

Nice-to-have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, or related field; MBA, CRM, CPA, CIA, FRM, or CFA designations.
  • Experience supporting regulatory or audit engagements and evidence coordination.
  • Familiarity with operational resilience, BCM, and incident management tools and platforms (e.g., recovery and scenario tools).
  • Experience working within cross-functional teams in matrix environments at large, publicly traded corporations.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program includes competitive compensation, bonuses, and flexible benefits.
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and meaningful opportunities.
  • The ability to make a difference and lasting impact on organizational resilience and risk management.
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, and high-performing team within the Enterprise Chief Controls Office.
  • Flexible work/life balance options and opportunities to do challenging, strategic work.
  • Professional development in operational resilience, risk management, and enterprise governance.
