Position Summary
We are seeking a full-time Kitchen Equipment Mechanic to perform preventative, predictive, and reactive maintenance on commercial cooking, refrigeration, and warewashing equipment throughout the arena. This position is responsible for ensuring all kitchen equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably to support our demanding event schedule. Work hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. with the flexibility to work some nights, weekends, and holidays to support events as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance and document all work completed on portable and fixed kitchen equipment including walk-in coolers, freezers, refrigerators, carbonation equipment, gas grills, flat tops, ventilation hoods, ice machines, and related equipment.
- Performs preventive, predictive, and reactive maintenance on gas distribution systems, pumps, valves, belts, glycol cooling systems, and associated equipment.
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs refrigeration compressors, refrigerant lines, secondary cooling systems, valves, and related components.
- Inspects kitchen equipment and supporting systems to ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations, facility standards, and applicable safety regulations.
- Utilizes the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to track preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and work orders.
- Troubleshoots and repairs commercial cooking equipment, refrigeration systems, motors, gas systems, pumps, and mechanical components.
- Collaborates with Arena Operations and Levy management to minimize downtime and ensure all food service operations are event-ready.
- Coordinates with outside contractors, inspect completed work, and verify quality and compliance.
- Assists in developing and implementing preventive maintenance programs for all commercial kitchen equipment.
- Assists with annual capital planning and budgeting for kitchen equipment replacement and upgrades.
- Install, commission, and test new commercial kitchen equipment.
- Performs minor plumbing and electrical repairs including drains, water lines, valves, and associated utilities supporting kitchen equipment.
- Provides event support and responds to maintenance needs during events
- Participates in an on-call rotation.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum 5 years of experience servicing commercial cooking equipment.
- Minimum 3 years of commercial refrigeration experience.
- Experience in an arena, stadium, convention center, hotel, casino, healthcare, institutional, or high-volume food service environment preferred.
- EPA Refrigerant Certification required.
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting and repairing commercial kitchen equipment.
- Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, gas piping, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Proficient with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative facilities team.
