Summary:

Develops and provides services related to the orientation, continuing education, and assessment of the ongoing competency of clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

Disseminates research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement findings through activities such as presentations, publications, and consultation.Conducts needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools.Conducts and/or contributes to nursing research.Assists with developing specific departmental goal, standards and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.Synthesizes evaluation data to guide decision-making about educational programming.Serves as consultant/mentor/change agent to staff, clinical leaders, and others as appropriate.Plans, updates, and evaluates clinical competencies to assess quality of patient care delivered and ensure regulatory compliance.Manages the onboarding and orientation of all new employees and students on assigned unit(s).Leads committee, work groups/and/or projects related to the implementation of educational activities.

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Three (3) years nursing experience. Candidates for Clinical Nurse Educator RN Fellowship positions may apply after completion of two (2) years' nursing experience. Other Information: Department Specific: JDC- Hematology/Oncology: APHON Provider and PALS required.
